Honestly I don't know how you can skate to that song anyway (single ladies, not Rihanna, that one's very nice). I find it very annoying and it makes me icky anyway, but on ice it can only get hectic. I think she has the power for an energetic song, but maybe choose not this one.

Nice performance from Mariia, except I do not see much connection to the music. By the looks of it she could have skated to anything but latin.

I don’t think she was ever with plushenko you’re mistaking her for Sofia. She is training rn with Vasilevsky’s but they are not with her here today.

I had a look at Aleksandra's ISU Bio, and she has a new SP for this event.

That would explain why I didn't recognise the jumpsuit.

You know, maybe I was wrong in thinking she was going to retire this week.

Everything seemed to be pointing towards that - going back to using the same music in her SP that she used for her first Junior GP season 11 years ago ("Clair De Lune"); having a Major Championship in her home country; getting selected despite not winning Nationals.

But you would hardly learn a new competition programme for just one event.

Anyway, here she is.

Please put in as beautiful a performance as we have become used to seeing from you.
