2024 Grand Prix de France Women's Short Program

First thought on Rion: what a pretty hair piece. Second thought: oooh, pretty soft arms. Third thought: oh, the footwork out of the 2A is gorgeous. She has lovely spins and I enjoyed her step sequence as well, she looks so floaty across the ice. The step-out on the flip I think cost her the lead.

I think Sumiyoshi has the most put together program so far and the best performance. The step out on the 3F was unnecessary, especially since she usually does a solo 3Lz. Hopefully that mistake doesn’t hurt her score too much.

What am I missing? Seems like a harsh panel. Those are all pretty low scores for decent skates, yes? Or am I just out of touch with scoring since I haven't been watching as much the last few seasons?

Out of touch.

The height on Livia's 3Lz is so impressive, but there just wasn't enough speed coming out to get that triple toe on - too much up-and-down, not enough length. Of course that will hurt her BV, but she still got great GOE out of the combo. I love this program for her, it works really well with her natural performance ability, and that choreo on the 3F is brilliant, but there was a lot of just stroking into her jumps that will hurt her skating skills score, and the drop of levels and GOE on her steps and spin are going to be more costly than the toe pop.
