2024 JGP Wuxi Men's FS

no need to throw yourself into a river, there's still the whole season ahead, you'll get plenthy of reasons to wanting to jump, so better wait the end of the season. now let's go and watch dance
I think I'm going to take a long hot shower, reflect on my life choices that lead me to watching figure skating, cry myself to sleep, and then catch up via replay (I bought the stream). I watched skating for more than 13 hours today and about half of it was heartbreak and disappointment, I can't handle more for today
No it's probably cold and definitely unpleasantly wet.
Rivers are usually so, Siri can you drown yourself in a hot tub
I wouldn't base such important life decisions on cacti skating. Stay with us ;)
At this moment it seems like I either get the part of my brain invested in FS lobotomized or go jump off Mapo bridge or another one

even with the weird 3T+3T choice
Rio's weakest jump is the Lutz (he often forgoes it completely, or pops it, and has never repeated it in the Free, if I remember correctly), so it's not really a weird choice in my opinion to do a different 3-3 combo.

Interestingly, 3T+3T seems to be the combo of choice for many Japanese skaters if they can't do their favoured 3-3 combo, Yo Takagi also did 3T+3T when she couldn't do 3Lz+3T (her Flip is the equivalent of Rio's Lutz).

Don't do that Minkyu needs you
See below
She knows I have his back though ;)
Yes, and he is loved by many so one missing won't hurt
that's exactly why you need to stay alive @Ichatdelune . his peculiar eathing habits may be contagious
Minkyu is too small as of now to be worth eating
have some Mapo tofu instead.
I need something with more carbs and sugar and fat and other unhealthy things
now you're a carnivore again? see my point @Ichatdelune ?
He's flexitarian

okay.. i guess this made me hungry. i scored 40 points if my maths are ok... impressive.
so did i ;)

haven't had bacon in years LOL.. but I do remember its taste ;)
that's what you say

So cute lol, they try to make the shape of a heart while taking pictures, but not that successful.

I figured he must have some issue with the 3Lz, but why not 3S-3T or 3Lo-3T? The 3T-3T was gorgeous, and I was already visualizing the 4T-3T in its place. But alas, he's still in juniors. As the season goes on or into next year, I'd like that combo to be a little higher in BV and for him to continue to challenge himself.

3Lo3Ts are prone for underrotation calls. Not sure why not the 3S3T but he probably thinks the 3T3T is sturdier, likelier to look visually bigger and guarantees him better GOE.

Some people are just not natural jumpers (or natural lutzers/flippers) so sticking with the jumps you're confident will land and will look best and ditching the ones that will get you negative GOE is a good math strategy 😁 it's not like he's a slouch in the tech department... his 4T and 3A are pretty solid, 4S and 4Lo waiting in the wings while he paces himself for senior.

That will do it for me with Wuxi as I will be working the entire time they are competing
Good luck to all the skaters!

Yeah, but unfortunately, he's not going to be able to use any of those very nice quads for another 1.5 years in the SP while he's hanging in juniors. I understand that he'll get better GOE today with a 3T-3T, but he absolutely can do more and should do more as a top junior going forward. Now is a good time to work on the 3Lz and combo. He and his team know it too:

Love that he snuck in his dad's costume without telling him.

I missed Patrick Blackwell's skate earlier and just went back to watch. He's a bit stiff, and his jumps are a little wild. He has a lot to be desired in PCS as well... BUT I see his own unique style developing, so I like that. This was a good experience for him, and it'll be great to watch him vs. Jacob Sanchez for the US men in the next quad.
