I agree with you when it comes to the performance as a whole. But when individual jumps are obvious mistakes, I think its counterproductive to not point that out. That leads to unexpectedly low scores and disappointment for newer fans, and eventually to channels being changed. LolI don't know about the ISU, but I think that commercial TV commentators might. In the U.S., Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir always find something that the sker can build on, even after a dreadful performance.
I personally approve. The skater knows she did not fulfill her hopes. No need to pile on.
To see clean skate after clean skate it created a nice atmosphere. The first 6 all scored withing the 60-69 range.
