2024 Pacific Coast Sectional Singles Final

If he doesn’t have a bye, it’s the only way to qualify.

I believe Tomoki is also going through Sectionals
Or have an international assignment, such as all those who went to Tallin, or however you spell it. Jimmy didn't have a bye.

Poor Yaro...I love Prince, but I fear he can't afford new choreo...wonder if he has a gofundme..

Ok, were did Anthony Mugg come from? Have I slept on him somehow?

Kai Kovar has quite the cheering section! And into first!

Three international competitions.
Right, he had a bye because USFS gave him a bye, basically. Not on his own as in placing 5th or higher at Nationals or other ways. He could also have gotten a bye just from Talinn or however you spell it because it's the same weekend as his sectionals. At least that's my understanding.

Daniel Martynov also had a bye due to three internationals. I don’t know what you are upset about. Getting assigned to three challengers is an honor and opportunity to get more international exposure and build a reputation with international judges.

See this post to see what other byes were given and how many challengers others were assigned.

Also USFS criteria for byes

I haven't watched sectionals much and have some questions.

I thought there were tests to pass to be able to skate at certain levels. They seem to be letting lower levels skate at sectionals?

Also, since the next step is Nationals, why don't many of the skaters hold their last pose and complete the end in an artistic manner?
So many just hit the last pose and then drop it immediately and skate off.

I'm pretty sure there are tests to pass to be able to skate at certain levels.

This is the last step for many/most of these skaters. There aren't many slots open for Nationals, particularly senior men's and women's.
