2024 Skate Canada Men's Free Skate

I respectfully disagree. Those other skaters could get a higher season's best than Jason. They could beat him at nationals. Guess, what ? They don't do those things. He's not taking anything from anyone else. They aren't earning the spots. Sorry, but I really hate this type of argument. You earn your spots, you don't rely on others to retire and give them to you. He was 5th at last year's World Championships. Should everyone who finished lower than 5th retire in your opinion?

Of course people should not retire if they finish below 5th, and if other US skaters can't defeat Jason and he places high at Nationals, then he's earned his spot.

My point was about Jason being held up based on reputation and past successes. I don't like it when it happens with any skater. You should be judged on what you bring to the competition that day.

We've all seen skaters lose their jumps as they age, if it's happening to Jason now, then he needs to think about if he should continue in the sport.

I get loving competition, and I believe that skaters always have that drive, because skating is not only athleticism, but also artistry. I remember reading a conversation between Brian Boitano and (I believe it was) Janet Lynn, and they both talked about how after they retired, they would hear pieces of music and could visualize themselves skating to it. I believe that is the case for most skaters, that never leaves them.

Jacob has stepped up. He's going to the JGF with winning both his grand prix's. I think the U.S. has good men, I think its just nerves.
I agree. They are good. I am personally a huge Andrew Torgeshev fan. I also like Camden. Luca Broussard and Jacob, too. But, they do have to earn their places. Jason can't give them his.

I like this program for Gogo actually. I also like the shirt and gloves.

Gogolev has matured a lot since his time as a junior. His spins and the interpretation of music got better but most difficult jumps got less reliable since he grew so tall. The 3Lo-3A combo in the 2nd half was always risky and difficult for everyone not named Malinin who is from a different planet. The fall on 3A looked quite painful

Yikes, the wild inconsistency of the Canadian men continue. There is still no clear #1 since Keegan stepped away. Who will step into the champion role this season? I would love to see Anthony Paradis deliver clean skates and take the title. At this rate, any one who showed up and skated clean could take it.

Normally I think it's such a privilege for a sports person to be tall, be it tennis, basketball, or most other sports....

...but Gogolev manages to flip that script for figure skating. Feel sorry for him a bit. :(

Stephen has a very nice still upper body, the jumps are just not getting into the air starting with the lower body. When he works this out, they will be fine. It is early yet for him and more training may fix this.
