2024 Skate Canada Rhythm Dance

It was a fluke, probably will never happen again.
Hopefully, not.🤞But I would never say never, simply to avoid jinxing them. 😉 This is certainly out-of-the-ordinary for Zac. In the men's SkCa comp, it was surprising to suddenly see Torgashev fall on nothing in his sp, which was certainly a fluke (albeit he isn't known for performing consistently every time out). He went on to easily perform difficult footwork after having landed a lovely quad early on and other clean jumps later in his program. Skaters do tell us that they often fall in the course of training practices and learning new material. The point of doing multiple runthroughs is to cut down on the possibility of falls and mistakes during competitive performances. Due to injury, LaLa have not had a lot of lead training time, and SkCa is their first competition this season.

Sure, freak falls (unrelated to elements) for experienced skaters in top form are generally rare and flukish. But, as we know, falls can tend to happen to all skaters for different reasons, such as injuries; tense nerves, or overexcitement; pushing one's performance to the edge, which is not easy to consistently manage; breaks in concentration; ruts on the ice; loss of balance and footing, etc. Ice is slippery.
