Panels of judges at GP level should consist in 9 judges. Guess there has been a last-minute withdrawal (or they couldn't find anyone available) and were allowed to go for a 8 people panel (at least 7 is the minimum for GPs).

The push for a dependable, healthy #3 dance team for both USA and Canada is still hot and heavy and on-going, The quest has not been going well, so I am going to pretend it simply does not exist, that the PCS won't be inflated beyond all reason, and that fair balanced judging wins the weekend in Halifax. So my predictions for dance are not so much reality but what I wish would happen, Piper and Paul, Marjorie and Zach Can. big gap - L/B Fra,T/T CZE, and L/Q KOR!

It would appear this is Piper & Paul’s to lose, although La La has a good RD and could contend for the top spot if PP falter. Le/Br would seem to be the logical third, but Z/K, the Taschlers, B/S and the Browns will be contending too. Personally, I’d love to see ZK or T/T medal - I don’t see L/Q ahead these two or L/B if all skate well.

The American quest for the #3 team is going just fine - ZK, B/S, the Browns and G/Par have all had strong showings in their first comps this season. A favorite could emerge during the GP series or we may have to wait until Nationals. In either case, it’s an embarrassment of riches .

Notes from dance practice this morning—

Browns were on fire this morning. Gage pouffed up his hair 70s disco style for the occasion.

Lopareva/Broussard’s RD is the sort of piece that would do well at Euros, but wouldn’t necessarily translate well to a broader audience.

LaLas’ RD is high energy, with a lot of upper body movement. Marjorie in cute pink dress, very swingin’ Sixties; Zac is Austin Powers, with cravat. Starts with the Austin Powers stuff, ends with era shift to Boogie Wonderland. Despite that, I’d say it’s a well choreographed piece that shows them off nicely.

Piper & Paul’s RD costumes look to be based on wetsuits, with what look like scuba tanks painted on their backs. Not to be unkind but—they seem slow, and their program seems less intricate than those of their competitors. RD is very fey, as is their FD, which I saw yesterday.

(I’ll add that Paul’s FD costume is…something to behold, let’s just say that.)

This is so unfortunate. I had every intention of watching this LIVE with you guys. But it was only when I did the post for Emilea and Vadym's Fan Fest this morning that I realised that I would be eating when this was on.

I suppose my brain was thinking of today as being in winter time, rather than it being in summer time. (Hardly surprising, given the weather! :p )

It's such a pity that it is tonight that the clocks change, rather than last night. Because 16:15 GMT would have been a nice start time for me. 17:15 BST isn't.

Oh, well. I hope you guys enjoy it.
