Ilias Khaliullin, the strongest junior man from Kazan, bombed his first RGP stage placing just 11th. Almost the only thing that could give him nationals was gold at next stage. And he did win his home stage placing first in both programs with a great margin.

I think it's basically impossible for them not to quality. 12 points could be enough to make nationals and Zakharova already has it. Frolova is at 16.

You might need more than 12 this year. Like in 2024 when 14 points were needed.

It might be clearer after the next stage. We have a few skaters we haven't seen yet.
