It's hard to see Rubtsova struggling with 2A and low PR. She must still be recovering. I imagine next season will be much better for her. Qualifying is going to be hard this year.

She is the same "generation" as Alisa Dvoeglazova, we can compare their development as they were on roughly the same level when Lyuba left Eteri.

But to her benefit, she obviously grew a lot, so she has to adjust.

I don't know why they even had Lyuba try a 4S here. Even if she were capable of it at her best, she had a major surgery not that long ago, give her some more time and just have her do triples.

Last year, Rubtsova underwent a serious back surgery. After that, she immediately started attempting a lot of ultra-c elements. A year later, she (suddenly!) needed an urgent second surgery. And, again, ultra-c attempts right after it.

I just don't undrestand. Let her fully recover, work on her PCS, non-jumping elements and improving her staming. What's the point of this 4S attempt? She can't rotate triples after it, she gets 6s in PCS.

She had a bad 2A yesterday also. It's not just that. She just isn't in form at all generally.

I think they knew to qualify she needs a miracle and the 4S would be that.

She's also always been more injury-prone than Alisa, both before and after she left Tutberidze. Growth has not helped her in that aspect either, her back issues, unfortunately, got a lot worse after puberty.
