I didn't think we would ever top Sota Yamamoto dressed up in an International Rescue uniform skating to the "Thunderbirds" theme tune when he was a wee boy at the NHK Trophy gala many years ago.

I think Petr has just surpassed that.

I know we have had lots of trailers this week, but did anybody ever think they would ever see a lorry cab skating?

Pity he was dressed as the version from the recent films, rather than the version from the 80's cartoon, which is what I grew up watching.

Nevertheless, I absolutely loved that!!!

Because I know fine well that is why she never did a formal retirement announcement. She was waiting to have a big goodbye in Assago.

All in all I think this was a great RusNats. Not perfect, but great.

This season in general did have its special charm. I will cherish it. Hope all stays as well as possible and we make it safe until next season.

The RusNats ended with enough ups for me to compensate for any downs. Vetlugin's resurgence was a pure joy, Kondratiuk's free was for the ages. I'm actually becoming interested in Russian ice dance since thanks to national music, the selection was both campier and more creative than international. Hats off to Pasechnik/Cirisano who won me over specifically at Nationals. I'm also comforted by Mozalev's, Mukhortova/Evgen'ev's and Sichina/Drozd's placements even though they all made me bite my nails. I can't help but wish that RusFed had had the guile/blaze attitude to put Boikova/Kozlovskii and Kaganovskaya/Nekrasov as their first choices, while Mishina/Galliamov and Stepanova/Bukin as second, but that's water under the bridge. The next thing I am monitoring is any information on ISU's decision on unlocking Russian juniors on the broad request of the IOC, even though I understand it is unlikely. Olympics is nothing to me in comparison to how much I want Russian juniors to return to international stage.
