Milla speaks in Norwegian and Nikolaj speaks in Swedish. I´m pretty sure Goldenskate asked them about it the first interview in Oberstdorf last spring. In one of their YouTube videoes from last year you could also hear Nikolaj say something in Swedish and Milla responding in Norwegian. They understand each other perfectly, but I wouldn´t be surprised if they sometimes mix in Norwegian/Swedish words with each other. Milla doesn´t have a difficult Norwegian dialect so I think it´s pretty easy for Nikolaj to understand her and Norwegians have usually no problems with understanding Swedish.Oh good you're here, I've wanted to ask a Norwegian about this for so long: which language do Reitan/Majorov use to communicate??
This is so cool, to use your own language and your partner understands you without issue!Milla speaks in Norwegian and Nikolaj speaks in Swedish. Yes, but to be fair the two languages are sometimes pretty similar. I think they are probably having strong bilingual advantages as well, particular Nikolaj - since he grew up speaking Russian at home, so my guess he is better then the average Swede. They must be switching a lot between languages in Oberstdorf - English for coaches and skating friends, possible German is required for communicating with local people - and then Nikolaj and Rostislav communicating in Russian as well and Milla and Nikolaj speaking Swedish and NorwegianThis is so cool, to use your own language and your partner understands you without issue!![]()
