I'm not sure of it's relevant in this case it but I remember some commentator on senior event explaining that if pair has huge throw and the girl lands it, even if free leg touches down the judges deduct from a positive GOE (it could be +3 or +4 if landed well but with deduction for this minor mistakes it ends up like +1).
