2025 Masters de Patinage

Laurence and Guillaume was so elegant and I love their free dance also their Rhythm dance was nice. Was classic and beautiful free dance , virtuous, elegant and well don't expect a guns and roses theme but classics are timeless also their Rhythm dance with Depeche mode WOW!! (enjoy the silence is one of my lifetime favorites) Vraiment art and élégance naturellement.

I wonder if Lopareva and Brissaud would keep the the first places in the upcoming worlds

so boring.. yet beautiful.
they will win the Olympics with this... because judges cannot take any points away from them. do I love it ? no.

is it better than Fauré's FD from Gabi and Guillaume ? definitely not.

at the same time, if Lolo gets gold at Milano, or even just a podium, I will be happy for her. She's been under-rated for so long and with the right partner now, she can shine.

I am still on team Piper and Paul but I have no illusions... this "boring" yet very competent free dance is going to win

Maybe boring if don't understand their idea but well must wait more improvement I think. Like I said before I don't expect a fancy music for awesome , just a balanced free dance and in French style isn't all about surprise people with the most loud rhythm, is more about elegance and expression (nuances are very important) Giles and Poirier last season FD was nice but the theme is used a lot worldwide in everything from ADs to design and that overuse of the theme fatigue it (IMHO)

Win? Piper and Paul are going to skate against 3x World champions and Italians at home. If the judges let them get any medal at all, that would already be an achievement.

BTW there will be a rewatch for this event coming soon...

Well, it does at least appear that the ID is going to be marginally less predictable than we all expected...

no.. i meant that Lolo and Guillaume will win. I am on team Piper and Paul because they are still my favourites. I have no illusions.

I don't know about that. Hard to tell much from a domestic event which is always overscored... let's wait until at least Nebelhorn (where they'll be up against some of their real competition) before jumping to any conclusions about the Olympics.

Incidentally, I agree the FD is better than the RD... but I found the music abrasive and it did not hold my attention throughout. Even aside from the obvious point of comparison to Cizeron's previous partnerships, it reminded me of what Zingas/Kolesnik have done lately, among many. many others. Are we still calling it Montreal Mush? (Papadakis/Cizeron always rose above that, imo... but what they accomplished together cannot be so easily replicated. And whatever else one can say about Sorensen, I also think Laurence and he had some spectacular programs together in a style that was dynamic and completely different.)

Certainly they've been positioned as the French #1, but I remain dubious about that mattering all that much in comparison to the top teams from other countries who have built up more of a reputation over the last 4+ years... and who have skated at more than one competition together. If they beat Fear/Gibson, then maybe I'll be convinced.

Lolo and Nik had much more spectacular lifts... but I do find Guillaume and Lolo good together for that early in their partnership.

I didn't see the RD but I don't like the FD. It's boring. But, with ice dance, especially with good teams, the first events are always just like the canvas of a dance... and stuff gets added and edited... so we will see how it evolves. I am not sure Fear and Gibson retain that much reputation points over these two... but I would suspect that Chock and Bates would... Piper and Paul ? It will depend. They have often been the first ones the judges dropped as soon as they felt like it... or their material wasn't as convincing... remember the previous Olympic year ? Sigh...

As promised...
