So happy for Ellie and Danny and their solid skate. The music is not doing it for me - wish they had a program like last year or East of Eden - something that brings a crescendo to their lifts and connecting steps. But when they skate like this I don't even notice the music; my ears shut down and I just watch.
I also really like Lia and Trennt and feel badly for their stumble. You could see Lia by rink-side watching Ellie and Danny skate. Maybe her coaches should keep her focused on other things. For some watching others may motivate but, in this case, I think Lia was overwhelmed.

yes. this event showed a few things
1) A team that was almost written off can finally land their throws and get a medal.
2)A team that was for sure going to win by a landslide can lose.
3) A team that has been world champions can bounce back after a tough season/ tough events
4) Ice remains slippery, even after landing a jump
5) you better nail that jump sequence or you're out
6) there will always be naysayers picking on Max and Deanna... and for what reason? I don't know.

Really liked both pairs today.Shame on that falls from German pair,but better here than late in the season.They will make finals anyway.Program is delicate and moving so everything is okay.
Maxime and Deanna really shine today with powerful skate.I just don't know why they are desynchro on the entry for 3T again and again.They just need to work on it.Much better free than short.
Gonna be a treat in the finals.

Well, instead of going there, I'll go hooray for Deanna and Maxime!!! I seriously hope this win helps give them some momentum towards Milan!!!

So happy for Kam and O shea they are in contention now and look to be back on top in the US and wow. Deanna and Max while not perfect are back in the picture and they needed this big time. So they secured their spot to the GPFinals as well. Sad Lia and Trennt didn't hold on for bronze. But the US were so good here. It was Germany's day.

Doesn't make any of them bad skaters. In a field like this winning a medal is very respectable.

The Mission is from the mid-80s, before auto-tune and Pitch correction. It's a boy soprano, and in the context of the movie, Ennio Morricone is juxtaposing the traditional European Catholic music style with the native South American voices brilliantly. For example, if you listen to the choral arrangement of Ave Maria from the film, you will hear a horrible sounding screechy choir singing what would otherwise be a very somber, well tuned classical sound. All the music in the soundtrack is brilliant, but as much as it hurts the ears to listen to the choir singing Ave maria, it's one of the most powerful moments in the soundtrack and movie because it's demonstrating how the European system was overlaid forcibly on the native population.

I had Deanna and Max in first too. Miniki in second, the rest...pfft, I don't care. Deanna and Max won, that's enough for me. And really, never rule them out.
