2025 GP Finlandia Trophy Pairs Free Skate

It still shocks me when H/V have an error because they are so technically solid. This is the 2nd event where it appears he has landed a SBS triple only to sit down at the end. Ugh! I do see the improvement in their presentation and expression and I know they can push it further as we move closer to the Olympics. Overall, a strong performance from them; they just need to tidy up some of those elements and I know they can do it!

Another undistinguished dress in meh pink and a guy who got his duds from an op shop on the way to the rink...

And I don't like the cover.

Other than that, all fiiiiiine...
Hmm... yeah, really hard to beat Sale and Pelletier for this one. That was such an iconic program, and they had such a powerful connection to each other, and the theme, and the music... I know it's not fair to retire a piece of music, but I don't know ... this program just went on and on with little Variety in terms of speed, expression, mood, etc. I mean, great job for them.

definitely Danny - he's an amazing pairs man - his skating is such high quality. Plus he seems super supportive of Ellie - always steps back and pushes for applause for her - he seems a fabulous skating partner.
Hmmm... Max skates like a robot most of the time. There's nothing naturally expressive about his body or facial expression. Deanna does about 95% of the emoting, so as a team they are totally imbalanced.

I liked Minerva and Volodin when I watched it in a competition, but today i saw Mishina&Galiamov, it is a pairs skating class above everything else I saw on a pairs circuit this year, even with a mistake and the music choice. Just to recommend, and not to say anything about the pair who beat them

Efimova/Mitrofanov continue to be my favorite new pairs team. They do not remind me of Katia & Sergei at all (other than Alisa is similar in looks to Katia). Their music to me was just a nice background to their skating. They weren't telling the story, as S/P did (so well!!) back in 2002. I'm finding myself interested in pairs again.

I liked M/G in 2022 , their programs, now not so much..I think Volodin as russian has better posture, edges, artisty than Kozlovski and Galiamov

The composition, speed and athleticism of a programme is a difference for me, but maybe I'm a 'cirque du soleil fella' I can't say any wow watching Volodin's programme, even I very much like how he presents himself on an ice rink :yes1: But I'm seeing the difference in the complexity of the elements, like we can see what is a difference between a double and a triple jump.

»Nikita, stop messing everything up, or you'll end up without an Olympic medal!
And Minerva, try to get Alexander Köng on board if your mission is sacred to you!

So we've been worrying about Minerva all season, but she's proving to be as reliable as a rock. But Nikita has now decided to mess things up (the fact that he can't get his butt below knee level in the death spiral, for example, is inexcusable, downright ridiculous). The brand-new flip proved to be a risky 50:50 experiment by Savin, who is also negotiating with the Japanese and Chinese: they pay more, and he seems to be giving up on coaching the Germans properly. Only a few will know: shortly before the Olympic Games (despite their GPF victory), Aljona and Bruno were on the verge of breaking up, but König worked a miracle...«

his off-ice personality seems very different though - he came across really well in the after-skate interviews. Also, he was asking to delay going to the Finlandia media event so that he could sign more autographs for the children fans - seems like a sweet guy.
He was super nice and friendly when I met them (approaching them at the subway station in Boston). They even let us take a selfie with them (Nikita was the one taking it)

Oh no, P/M’s freak fall freaked me out! Another really rough FS outing for this team! Now do they potentially risk not being selected as Canadian pair #2 for the Olympic spot? They have not medaled on the GP this season, but L/E did just that last week at SkAm. That makes Canadian Nationals for the pairs very interesting!
There mess still scored higher then a clean L/E, I think it the spot is thiers
