2025 Skate Ontario Sectional Series | Oct 16-19

Go Gabby!!! 👏
Please land four triples and just go for all your combos. Don’t leave any points on the table. Hoping for a 50+ TES and close to 110 free skate score 🙏

Megan Woodley - Great opening sequence! First half jumps all good! Fall on first jump in the second half, and then second jump. I cursed you Megan, sorry :( Only two combos, but that's something to work on for Graz. She was on fire in that first half.

Free 107.29, total 152.28
Okay, they only counted one fall in the protocol. This is why I'm not a judge.

Gabrielle Daleman - Opening combo was huge. Doubles second jump. Gets a three jump combo with 2A to open the second half. And she got three combos in. Nationals will be interesting if she skates like this
and it was a lutz combo... the 3t was short and two-footed but yeah.. she is upping her game.

I have to say that I am puzzled at Gaby's layouts for both the Sp and the Lp.

Why is she doing the flip in the SP ? Her better jump is the lutz. She uses her 3t-3t trademark combo in the SP.

Yet, in the LP, she goes for a harder combo which actually got downgraded << this time.
She repeated the lutz and toes.

She could simply do
3t-3t
3lz-2t
3flip
3loop

3lz
2a-2a-2t
3s
with the exact same jumps but easier to manage

She could even do
3lz
3f
3loop
2a -eu -3s

3lz-2t
3t-2a
3t
which might be even easier... I am not sure really why she is trying the 3lutz-3toe combo in the lp

Megan: Great free skate. Shame on the falls twice on the 3S. But, besides this jump, she landed 5 triples. Once she builds her stamina in her free skates, I can see her being a solid Senior Lady for us. She needs to work on PCS though….

KMS: This was a work in progress. Only three triples landed. Her 3S and two 3Lo’s are wow though!! She seems to have lost the flip and lutz though. If I was her, I would go for two 3Lo’s and two 3S’s and one 3T. I hope she enjoys her international events this season. To me, she was a one hit wonder last season. I hope to be proven wrong.

Lulu: Four well landed triples. She seems to lack stamina in the second half. A vast improvement from NextGen though. I do wonder if she will be lost as a mid-pack finisher at Nationals in the Senior Circuit though….. 🤔

Gabby: Five well landed triples. No idea why she is even bothering going for a lutz toe triple triple combo though. But, her lutz is back and the loop is back. If I was her, I would still do her well known 3T 3T. Her 2A 2T combo was solid though… overall, redemption. If she didn’t V one of her spins, she could have surpassed 60 TES score. 59 though is awesome!! I do wonder if she can keep up these type of skates consistently though…. Personally, I preferred Kaiya and SMD free skates at their respective international events. But, I have to enjoy vintage Gabby while I can.

Minsol: She is consistent. But, to me her jumps and skating skills lacked what Gabby has. She has passion and presentation though…. She repeats the lutz and flip. The 3F is her favourite jump and it is great!! However, her lutz isn’t even a lutz and she got called twice for it, with two edge calls. Three if you consider the SP. If I was her, I would repeat the flip and loop, salchow, or toe, whichever one, is more consistent in a second half of the program.

That is my two cents!!
Thanks for the videos. Senior Ladies is super intriguing to me, this season. With the battle for the Olympics. But, to me, the battle to be top 3 or 4, with 4CC spots in the line, is more interesting.

I like your first jump layout for Gabby.
The 3Lz seems to be more consistent. She goes for it twice in the free skate. Which, like you said, baffles me, cause she does the flip instead, in the SP 😔

She also wastes a toe trying to do a 3Lz 3T. I would rather her stick with two 3T’s and high GOE, in the form of her opening combo. She wows the audience with that combo. Your layout is perfect and exactly what I would have come up with.

The second layout, is too ambitious. I don’t think she can land a eu 3S combo. Also, leaving combos to her fourth jumping pass, is too dangerous.

I think the intention is to eventually do a 3Lz+3T as the combo in the Short. By doing a solo 3F now, she'll only have to get used to swapping one jumping pass instead of two. At this point, the 3Lz+3T isn't stable enough to use in the SP, but she has to do it somewhere in competition, so that's why she's going for it in the Free.

Yeah... I was thinking that too but it's quite a gamble not only for the combo but for the flip which was always her weakest jump. At least, she didn't get any edge calls on it this weekend.. I guess she does need it since now as there is only one spot to claim. She never really did the lutz combo well enough in the past. She had tried but always went back to 3t-3t... but there were spots available in the past. Not the case anymore since Kaetlyn retired.

the order of the jumps is alterable :)

As a matter of fact, if I recall correctly, she used to do 3s-2a before the sequence was worth full points... so I agree, she probably isn't a Euler type of skater.
