2025 Skate Ontario Sectional Series | Aug 15-17

Entry lists/results page - https://skateontario.org/results/26AUGKW/

Chaeyeon Kim, Gabrielle Daleman, Kaiya Ruiter added to Senior Women. Grayson Long out (no surprise, it's close to Riga). Jake Ellis added for Senior Men.

Edit - Megan Woodley, Katherine Medland Spence and Schaller/Mayr also out

Also no countries have been added for international skaters yet, so they're representing Ontario on the lists.

Any idea whether the livestream subscription includes archived replays? Or is it livestream only?
I hope it includes archives, I'll let everyone know if it doesn't.
Is there a cost to stream the events? I don’t see any mention of it. What is the season pass for?
Ontario (and only Ontario) is moving to paid streams this season.

Their announcement - https://skateontario.org/2025-2026-skate-ontario-live-stream/

The marquee events will have commentary and on-screen scoring. August is non-marquee. I created an account on the broadcast site and it gave me the two subscription options. I chose season since it came out to around the same as I would pay for the three events I want to watch.

I did not see the page about the streams moving to paid access. Guess we have been spoiled in the past. Thanks for the link.

I was unaware Canada had switched to paid streams until I checked the thread. I'm not sure if I can buy the stream if i'm not Canadian but I made an account on the broadcast site because I really want to watch a lot of the skaters competing here.

Welcome to GoldenSkate :)

It's only Skate Ontario that has switched to paid streams so far. The other sections (BC, Alberta, Quebec) are all free and so are Skate Canada's streams at the moment. I don't think it's restricted to only Canadians at the moment. If it does say the payment wasn't accepted, be careful about paying again and check to see if you get a receipt.

Thank you! I'm happy to finally make an account. Okay that's good if only one section so far. I don't mind paying if it goes toward improvements for skaters, just a big change from the past.

Ah okay, so it is indeed a one time viewing experience if you pay for one event at a time. If you pay 40 for all, you get archives for 12 months.

With two weeks for the archives to be uploaded, I really hope it isn't like the streaming platform they used for August/October last season. Those competitions are still missing. I'm glad I paid for the season, hopefully the archiving will work 🤞

Yeah makes sense. I saw on the schedule that two events are often at the same time so not even a chance you could really watch live without needing the replays. :frown:

I signed up for the season subscription. See how it goes - I consider this an experiment. I will likely only watch junior and senior events. Junior women are the “overlap” issue and conflict with other junior and senior events in another rink. So hopefully they archive junior women successfully. There should be some very good skating.

It’s exciting!!
C. Kim and Minsol both skating here…

Plus, the battle for the TBD spot between Kaiya and Gabby

Also, in Junior Girls there is Victoria and Ksenia (who already have JGP spots). I hope Ksenia lands the 3Lo. Also, I’m 🕯️ good luck to my fave Canadian junior girl…. Quinn Startek. She scored 149.97 to win the QUE event. I’m hoping another good result here…. Will at least put her in the conversation for a JGP spot.

I did go to buy the event today but if you buy individually, you have to pay for each rink so its really 20 dollars in all for a one time viewing. So I passed. But I'm sad on missing Kaiya, Gabby, and all the other skaters I wanted to see. :frown:
