2026 Junior World Championships | Men's Short Program

Actually, what I wrote about CHOI Habin (KOR) could also be written about LI Yanhao (NZL). But with a couple of changes.

Everything about that was beautiful.

Well, apart from his top. And the dialogue.

He is so disappointed! But he was good! :drama:

He goes into 4th position.

Yanhao Li: I have never seen him before. He's very good. He represents (presumably lives in) New Zealand but I see he was born in Beijing. He's China's loss .... they could use a great young skater like him. Maybe they have one that I've missed? Could have easily happened since I don't normally follow the junior skaters. ("my" loss).

This program is masterfully choreographed, Minkyu is such a good skater and the musicality and complexity of transitions in this program is stunning. He is so quiet yet fast across the ice, and the jumps were fantastic as well. That change-foot combo spin on the music is just *chef's kiss*, I love the sit twizzles and their phrasing so much, I'm literally running out of adjectives to use because everything was just amazing. The judges could give that program 9s in composition and I would be fine with that.

I think this program was choreographed by Patrick Chan, which explains why it's so good... Minkyu please keep working with him and Patrick please do more choreo!

Stunningly beautiful skate from Seo. And, for the record, THIS is my favorite Korean skater SP shirt. Moonlight Sonata never fails to make me feel relaxed and at ease ....... the great Reveen planted that post-hynotic suggestion in me (and everyone else on stage) many years ago and .... apparaently .... it still works.

SEO Minkyu (KOR) skating to "Moonlight Sonata".

I love this music. And Minkyu did it justice.

That was beautiful.

He has certainly thrown down the gauntlet for our Little Welsh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Dragon.

He goes into the lead.

All three of them are delighted!

I love Jacob's skating so much as well, he has sooooo much quality as well as power and freedom across the ice. He has been incredible in the second half of this season, and I cannot wait to see him in seniors next season. If he gets the quads he trains in practice consistent, the senior ranks better watch out. He lost around 2 points on the combo GOE, but minimized the mistakes after a rough warmup and delivered another great skate.
