I see execution. But then I dance with choreography and he skates with it. I'm not sure where in the choreo you interpret "slop" so what are you precisely referring to? Or are we talking jump entries, back side jump exits or what?
I'm talking about the arm movements - they were exciting but a lot can turn into too much. I suppose if you wanna get into PCS criteria, he wouldn't have done so well on "Variety and contrast of energy and of movements;" because it was high octane pretty much the whole way through. I prefer a program that has ebbs and flows to it with sharp/quick and soft/languid movements. I like lines/positions to be not only hit but also held. Again, exciting to watch and I loved it - and one of the best programs of all the disciplines, IMO - but if I'm talking about scoring and opining as to why it didn't score as high, that is one example. If we're talking about balance of choreo/program construction/leaving points on the table, he's the only skater in the top 17 who didn't have a jumping pass in the second half, too.

Okay, so because he chooses Leonardo Da Vinci that gives him liberty to be sloppy (not everywhere of course, but definitely in some parts of the program)? I do like to see some ebb and flow and greater refinement in the movements, and not have every moment be staccato and crazy (even if it's on theme).

There wasn't anything sloppy and the program had tons of refinement and was not just staccato. He had all kinds of spiral positions and softer moments. The footwork sequence is of course trying to be wild throughout, that's the entire point, and he does moves like the back bend that purposefully put him in an offbalance position and are extremely hard to control. Nobody else had this level of movement, both in terms of physical involvement and purpose with the music. He also does the butterfly better than anyone else.

I blame this on Adam. ISU bowed to the outcry. I would have put in the rules an even higher penalty for doing them in a competition.

The ISU wanted more viewership and they milked it for everything it was worth. I can't blame them. The season that back flip showed up in SHF's programs, the ISU was making skating edits and putting the videos on their Instagram account. That could easily be viewed as the ISU endorsing the back flip's return. That led up to Montreal and the crowd lost their minds watching it. Frankly, I thought it was good publicity for the sport - it brought in a lot of younger people since those skating edits were being widely posted across multiple social media platforms and not just in the skating group.

LOL - I'm here for it.

Lol, just turn your head away from that. It's literally 5 seconds in the program and most people are entertained by it.

The world isn't gonna give a damn about a level 4 spin with a change of edge or "nice skating skills". A backflip? That gets people talking, and when our sport needs all the publicity it can get, at the Olympics of all times, I say let 'em rip.
THAT

Jun's PCS we're a travesty. Grassl should be below him and the high GOE Ilia gets for his hunched landings compared to the Japanese are just criminal.
I'm so happy Kevin didn't have a meltdown, happy for Matteo, sad for Selevko, but man, Adam just had the program of the night.
When he's on, he's the best in the world to me. I love Yuma's jumps and skating skills, but with the mistake I think he should have been slightly below Adam.

And now I have to sleep I guess. My heart rate isn't back to normal yet 😞
Yea I have the same feeling with Adam and Loena, when they are on and the program is good they are just the best.

High-octane the whole way through. That bothers you? I see it as a breath of fresh air. As for not having a jumping pass in the second half, is there a pedestrian type of choreography that suddenly needs to be followed? If so, count me out. As someone who dances, I wouldn't want to screw up my choreo either by dropping in jumps. By getting jumps out of the way, Adam can now be free to go on a tear with his choreo/step sequences that he has come to be known for. And, frankly, were it not for Adam's step sequence in his 2021 Star Wars SP, I would never have taken notice of him at all.

But that's me.

This was an excellent comp, with not as much menning. It certainly was a lot more fun than last weekend’s Super Bowl. Except for Bad Bunny who was.🔥 and 🕺. I now want nothing more than a Bad Bunny program. Can we see Donovan with that?

All Super Bowls, however no… But I am a tad biased 🦅
Bad Bunny was amazing. Did not watch game.

In this skate, I think he was fairly scored but did get a couple 9.5's that I don't think were correct... but everyone was to some extent given some candies here and there (definitely disagree with the 10.00 for Ilia, for example - I think that judge just wanted to give a 10 out lol).
I can’t find the protocol breakdown. Which section in the pcs did Ilia get a 10?

Super Bowl? What is that? Must be an American domestic thing.... 😉

I am not a fan of games of the ball or any half time shows, but Chris Knierim's IG post about about Bad Bunny was funny!

If we're talking about this year's Superbowl it's more like fifty thousand! LOL.
I still dont know the score and I watched the local and nat news.... I DID go to a football game during my 7 years at the U of Ill. C-U. I have no idea why....
