Info 2026 World Figure Skating Championships

While we are waiting, Rockerskating and Wakaba posted on IG her amazing performance FS at Worlds 2018...for me, this is what skating is all about. The same magic as AL's FS. Here it is with the K and C moments.
I’m still bitter we didn’t get this program at the Olympics.

Madi and Evan won't be at Worlds. I'm disappointed; was looking forward to seeing them one more time. Same for Alysa. 😢

Alysa was a bit of a shock but C/B was not to me. Like I said, I saw them live when she was a novice and he was a Junior in Spokane 2007.
That's a long time to be at this game....I will be very surprised if they dont announce their retirement.

Does anyone have info if cameras are allowed in the arena? ISU sent a weird email today that you cannot bring much more than yourself inside
Let us know what you find out...After 3 worlds and Lord knows how many other major skating events, the only consistancy is that policies change on the fly ref cameras, food, ins and outs, etc. I think it was worlds 2009 LA where they had a cloak room for cameras and/or camera lenses. Many photogs just took their expensive lenses back out to their cars.....

There's a little more information on the website, looks like you can't bring cameras.

You also can't bring drinks or food, which has me slightly raging rn. I'm not someone who counts every penny when travelling, but I didn't plan on spending 50 € on water for a week. They better have some good food options available, expecting the spectators to sit in the arena for 5 hours without snacks would be insane.

They had very strict rules about food at Olympics too and I was worried about prices too but at least in Milano food and drink prices were ok for such an event. (3.50 euro for 500 ml Coca Cola)
About cameras:Looks like compact cameras are allowed which means I cannot take mine with a 14-42 mm lens but the compact one with 16x zoom is ok... oh well i am sitting right next to kiss & cry so I guess my phone will take ok photos good enough as souvenier.
My first day will be thursday so maybe someone going on wednesday can report about the food and camera situation?

I haven't been to the Arena in years, but I'd say the Milano price quoted above is what I'd expect a small bottle to cost at the venue. I'm pretty sure there'll be several food options at the arena, but based on experience, I don't expect any of them to be stomach-friendly, more like wafers, cookies, chips, nachos, maybe croissants... about what is usually available at Finland GP (fastfood stalls), that would be my best guess. I might be mistaken, but it's IMO better to be prepared for the worse alternative and get a pleasant surprise afterwards. Someone told me that when they were attending ice hockey WC there, O2 Arena food was excellent, downright gourmet quality. But then, they had first class tickets of some sort.
If I were you, I'd get as much food and drink as I can at the Harfa shopping center next to the venue, whenever possible. And if you have time, unless you're fine with tap water, I'd make a water + light snack stash at my hotel in advance, for late night returns.

My gut says the security guys will be checking bags for bottles and bigger food items. Again, if you're OK with tap water (perfectly safe to drink in Prague), I recommend bringing a small empty bottle to the venue, and filling it there. It's often done that way at the airport (which also has a new generous security check liquids limit for Schengen zone departures, yay). I don't see a reason for Arena security guys to deny you entry with empty bottles, but even if they did, an empty bottle is no loss to toss into the trash can. Smuggling in a small cereal bar should be doable, I doubt anyone's going to monitor what you're eating once you're inside.
If, like me, you avoid drinking tap water, the prices of drinks in the arena should still be survivable. For a better and healthier experience when outside the arena, I really recommend buying flavored mineral/spring water at the mall supermarket. There are several great brands out there.

One more thing, I recommend arriving at the venue about 40 minutes before the competition starts (something to that effect is probably printed on the tickets anyway - dead giveaway I don't have any, lol). The security checks can be smooth, but I have also experienced total chaos at another Prague arena, where security was originally so thorough that it created long lines. In the end, to avoid a big delay of the event's start time, the security guys gave up most of their checks, and just ran everyone through the basic scanner. But if you don't fancy the idea of standing in a long line outdoors for half an hour (Prague can be windy and cold at this time of the year), I'd make sure to be at the arena well in advance.

My fav food experience was US Nats Cleveland. We asked security why there was no one manning the food booths? They got snotty and said, "Hey! These people have day jobs!" These were the same people who threw us out of our purchased all event seats during the Novice ladies short and told us to go on the other side of the arena! Then appoligized to us the next day.
I have seen it all in 24 years....from a bit of junk food to really nice quality food with...with...are you sitting down? Tables. When the arena at San Jose cant /wont serve food, they let us go to the Whole foods store next door and bring in real food.
Good luck at Worlds, Europeans tend to care more about quality food than Americans.
