Not at all happy with the way this event is organised. Not enough time allowed to get everyone in, ridiculous security rules, drone on the ice at the end of each programme, stupid Interviews in kiss and cry, shrieking hosts ...

Never had this nonsense at worlds before.
It's really taken a turn for the worse, and I feel 100 years old and out of touch with 'what the people want'.

What is the point of this? Thousands of people having to go out and then going through all that queueing and security nonsense to come back in again.
I've been to 6 Worlds and these concerns all sound very familiar. They always clear the arena and then you go through the rigmarole of security again. If some people have all event tickets and some have single ticket, I'm not sure how they would keep all that straight otherwise.
Ah yes. The shrieking hosts. Cardinal rule, always take earplugs, just in case. Deafening music from a DJ is a thing too. Winter coats have deep pockets. Always bring some food. How about when they keep the cap of your water or soft drink bottles? That was interesting.

It's an experience, and in spite of all that, I highly recommend going. But it IS a lot! Sometimes I think the smaller events like Skate America, Skate Canada are just as fun. Not as much hassle, and you have more opportunities to "bump into" skaters.

The bottle cap thing makes no sense. People will spill the drinks and they have much more to clean up. And everyone already got their own caps anyway
At hockey games they throw full bottles which of course is very dangerous. Can't even imagine anyone doing that at a figure skating comp.

That's right. And spilling a $5 bottle of water is bad.

Today was a desaster in organisation. We were kicked out after practice as expected. The lines to get in again were long again but it went A LOT slower so many people didn't get in in time. We made it 2 min before the first skater was on the ice. And after the ceremony they kicked us out again while Ilia Yuma and Shun were still showing their medals for photos.
If you want to split it into 3 events make sure there is enough time to do so

Side note... bagcheck is as bad so I got my camera inside without problems

The last day of competition was super busy for me, we had a few things to take care of and a calm response was often required. No matter if I had to dive after some airpods, collect stuffed animals (one even hit me on the head - poor thing prolly has a headache now) or deal with wristbands and pearls on the ice, I felt like I was always in the spotlight of things happening, incuding a TV interview... I don´t even want to know if anything of that was visible in TV, better not as I am a shy person...

So ya,

Ilia has blown me away but also our friends from Japan, if that is the future of mens skating, call me a fan, seriously!

My performance of the day was of course that amazing Faithless Dance by our wonderful Allison Reed and Saulius Ambrulevičius. If you saw a volunteer dance next to the ice rink, that was me! This is by far one of the best programs ever done in history right there with Henna and Ossis cinerma Paradiso from years ago.

And as the skaters said in the Press conference today, it is an amazing atmosphere here at Prague, little kids dancing from the stands, the coaches and officials and myself at the ice rink - it´s magical and honestly not something I have seen much in the recent years. Usually crowds are kinda sleepy in ice dancing, but not so here. They supported everyone equally and the age of the spectators was a lot younger than usual too.

So the ISU has managed to get younger people interested in this wonderful sport which is always good.

So tomorrow will be the Exhibition, I will let you figure it out yourselfs what will happen there, to not spoil the party. A full summary of this event will follow next week!

That's why i like going to Nepela and Nebelhorn. Cheap tickets, relaxed and easy to meet skaters.

Love Worlds but been to better ones.

A good atmosphere indeed but i could have done without the shrieking hosts.

During gala break Evzen Milcinski - the President of Czech Figure Skating Federation spoke about visitor's attendance:

- 2026 World Championships in Prague had over 127,000 visitors.
For comparison he mentioned 2023 World Championships in Saitama with over 100,000 visitors and 2026 US Nationals with over 119,000 visitors.

I found information on Internet from 2018 World Champioships - over 65,000 visitors and 2016 World Championships - over 108,000 visitors.

There was also a shot from Relax centre with dogs (canistherapy). Organisators were inspired by last year's World Championships.
I find it to be a great idea, which could be adopted at all big competitions.

I have to summarize the past 2 days...

So for starters, I am working at the ice rink with the photographers, super close to the action.

I am loving this job, because I am on the same hight as the skaters and can experience all the emotions in the closest way possible.

Isabeau was magical today, so was Nina and of course Mone and Kaori, who I had to carry some toys for.

I feel so honored to have been at her last competition. She is so nice, we also took a picture. Talking about pictures, when I had some time off, I met the ice dancers and took some with them, but also traded pins with Amber and got a few photos signed.

It's just so nice of all of them, first the work and then the party if you know what I mean.

And just so you know, everything you throw on the ice goes to the skaters, Kaori alone had like 10 bags with stuff from the fans.

And don't curse the volunteers for not throwing toys on the ice if they land next to our feet, because we r not allowed to. But dont you worry it all goes into the bags later and skaters will come and get them.

I have to say that Amber has a heart of gold, I wish for everyone of you that you meet her in person someday, because she has the biggest heart in the world and just makes you happy, even if her day wasn't the best.

She must have gotten a million pins by now, but makes you feel like yours is special to her and somehow I believe it may even be so.

Ofc I couldn't resist to say hello to our Olympic champions in ice dance, but more about that to some other time.

I already know the first names for the Exhibition too, I have to ask if I can publish them, if so, I will let you know

And last but not least Robert and Annika were absolutely amazing in pairs, what energy!

Once the event is finished, I will write some summary of all what happened to me, but now I need to 😴 because in total I may have slept 10 hours in the last three days.

People are just always so nice to me and remember my name even years later and do so much for me, why I don't know, I am just a normal person!
I find Isabeau magical, too!

Late to the game to give my review of the event, but I stayed on in Prague to do the tourism bit and am just now shaking of the jetlag back in the US
This was my first Worlds, so I don't have other points of reference, but I thought the whole thing was extremely well done. Aside from the chaotic ticket sales. It's a beautiful arena, the crowd was knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and the in-between parts with the lights and pump up music were all a lot of fun! Tomas Verner and Ashley Wagner were great as the in building hosts. I did experience the lines to get in the place, but I think that's just a normal part of any big event. And the shopping mall adjacent to the arena was a good way to kill time between events.
Skater wise, it was amazing to be in the building for Kaori's farewell and Ilia's seven quad show. Other skaters that really stood out to me as especially thrilling were Nina Pinzarrone and Shun Sato. And I loved seeing the crowd go crazy for Hase and Volodin on their well earned gold medal.
So---big thumbs up for Prague for me on this one. And I'm probably hooked now, since I just signed up for pre sale ticket updates for Tampere 2027. Good bye, money... :drama:

I have written a rather long summary of my work at the event, if you want I could post it at the forum. It's less about skaters performances, even though I do mention a few but more about the life as a volunteer and what my tasks were.

Let me know if this is something you are interested in, we can also have an AMA if you like.

Thank You 🫶
