Two Evitas in the final group. Nice to see Rodegheiro land some triples. 103 free skate, and she wins! She's thrilled.

Wow, Joshi (and everyone else) must've done very poorly if Roberta won. She was 12 points behind Joshi and in sixth place.

So happy for Roberta!! She was the one landing triples, so the result is not surprising. She is a top ten material for Euros, maybe even top 5 considering the current field.

Well, I was hoping Joshi would win it, but... congratulations to Roberta. :)

Possibly. What European ladies do we have? There will be 3 Russians, of course. Is Kiira coming back? Otherwise... ?

Well it's nice to see Roberta stepping out in wake of Carolina's absence. Sad to hear that Ashley did not do so well. Here's hoping she'll do better on the GP!

Weinzierl, Helgesson sisters, Gedevanishvili, Meite and Silete maybe, Marchei (?)

If Roberta gets consistency, she can be top 5 at Euros.

Yes, does anyone know how Yretha is doing? I'd love to see her back.

Really promising Short dance from the Shibs in my opinion. It's a shame that the video qualities from this event are horrible. Audio is out of sink and the camera must be somewhere up in the rafters. Getting past that, their program is really well designed. Nice choreographic touches at the start, and it builds with an exciting ending. Costumes are stunning. Maia is always beautifully dressed. Alex's bullfight jacket in particular looks really striking and highlights his excellent posture. They got nailed by the technical panel with only level 1 and 2 for Paso and pattern and only level 2 for footwork. So still earning almost 63 points when they left any where from 3-5 points on the technical panel table is a very promising start. Looking forward to seeing the program (with better video too) on the Grand Prix.

To be fair, the 2002 SLC teams did not have to deal with getting key points in their ODs! IF it seems a lot of teams are cautious it's because they're focus on getting the pattern correct and getting those levels. I suppose that's a critique of the scoring system, but I simply bring it up to explain why perhaps you're not seeing teams bring it on the character side.

Getting a level 3 or 4 with a cautious dance is worth more than being fierce and missing the key points. I think as the teams master the pattern, you'll see more character put in.

Point taken. But what about the parts of the dance between the elements? I think they can show a little more character in those areas. But as you said as the season progresses they should settle into the scoring elements and explore the character of the dance more.
