3rd Maria Olszewska Memorial 2025 | Mar 5-9

The final skater, Lena IGNACZAK (POL), was wearing a red dress.

And in case you are wondering, Lena does have a sister that skates. But Nadia is competing in Singles at Advanced Novice level tomorrow. So not the girl we saw earlier in Initial U7.

Lena has her coach, Justyna Plutowska, sitting with her.

She goes into 3rd in the FD and 2nd overall.

They both look disappointed.

Right, it's the final group of Solo Dancers. 2 Juniors, followed by 3 Seniors.

CaroLiza_fan

@anonymoose_au - you were asking during Euros if there were ever any skaters from Malta. Well the first of the Junior Solo Dancers here, Michaela Maria GEORGALAKIS (SVK), has family from Malta.

She was wearing a purple dress. And doing a "Burlesque" programme. And, yes, she was going all out on the sexy.

CaroLiza_fan

The second of the Junior skaters, Mira JAKUBOWSKA (POL), is wearing a black jumpsuit with yellow highlights.

She was skating to music from a film. And I can't think which film.

She has 4 team-mates with her.

She goes "Yes" when the scores were announced.

She wins.

I'm confussed. The first of the Senior Solo Dancers, Julia ZAMORSKA (POL), is doing a "Pirates Of The Caribbean" programme. But, she is wearing a sky blue dress.

And "He's A Pirate" didn't make an appearance. :jaw:

That was different. Apart from the very last piece of music, none of the pieces that normally get used in "Pirates Of The Caribbean" programmes were included.

Ah, she must be team-mates with the previous skater, Junior winner Mira JAKUBOWSKA, because she has stayed on. And they have been joined by a whole pile of other skaters, including Advanced Novice winner Anastasiia SEMENCHENKO.

Karolina LESZCZYNSKA (POL) took us to "Chicago" in her programme. She was wearing a black dress with a silver belt.

She was good.

She has two coaches, and a cuddly goose with her.

She goes into the lead of both FD and overall.

CaroLiza_fan

Now for the skater with an Irish husband.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST MEGAN!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

Megan is wearing a beautiful flowing black dress.

Ah. Whereas all the other skaters in this group have gone for film soundtracks, Megan has gone for more traditional skating music.

And it worked for her. She was really good!

I'm not even going to wait for the scores to say this. She's won. No question about it.

She had a big advantage from the Short Dance, and I would say the advantage will only increase.

WOW!!! She won by just over 20 points!!! :jaw:

:cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

What a way to finish the Solo Dance part of the event.

:cheer: WELL DONE MEGAN!!! :cheer:

Now that the Solo Dancers have completed their campaign, it is time to move to the ISU part of the event so that the Ice Dancers can complete their campaign too.

Same running order as the Solo Dance.

The second of the Basic Novice partnerships were skating to an orchestral version of "Barbie Girl". But eventually it morphed into the original Aqua version.

The girl was wearing a pink dress (obviously!) And the boy was wearing black trousers and a black shirt with "Ken" written in pink lettering on the back.

They go into the lead of both the FD and overall.

CaroLiza_fan

Now this is novel. The third and final Basic Novice partnershp are both wearing black and white costumes. The boy is wearing a white shirt and black trousers. But the girl is wearing a dress where the right hand side is white, and the left hand side is black.

Having the contrasting vertical and horizontal designs is actually very effective.

The music has been skated to many times, but I can't remember what it is.

They were good.

They win both the FD and overall.

CaroLiza_fan

Onto the Intermediate Novices. And due to the two withdrawals yesterday, it also has only 3 partnerships taking part.

So, I am forecasting a much longer than scheduled resurfacing break afterwards.

It's a pity that the Advanced Novices aren't going to start earlier, and then the longer break in between them and the Juniors. Because I am going to miss Group 2 due to eating.

CaroLiza_fan

I just discovered. That is Nóra Hoffmann with the Hungarian skaters. :jaw:

Boys but she looks different to when she was competing! She actually looks a lot prettier now.

Anyway, her skaters opened this competition. And the girl was wearing a beautiful green/blue dress. And the boy was wearing a matching shirt, with a black waistcoat and black trousers.

I enjoyed them.

CaroLiza_fan

The British partnership starting at #2 were skating to the Isle Of Man's finest. "You Should be Dancing" by the Bee GEes

She was wearing a purple dress with big red collar. He was wearing a matching shirt, and black trousers.

As you would expect, it was a fun programme.

They go into a massive lead in both the FD and overall.

And they are delighted!

CaroLiza_fan

The Polish partnership were wearing matching green costumes that I can only describe as being seaweed coloured.

That wasn't the only strange thing about their programme. I recognised the music at the start as being from a film, but because I haven't seen the film in question, I can't remember what it is. But then it changed to music from "Aladdin". And I cannot work out any connection.

But, it worked for them. BEcause they won both the FD and overall.

A break of nearly 30 minutes now, and then the Advanced Novices.

Ach, I arrived back late because I was watching something on the TV, and forgot to put the sound back to the computer. So I couldn't hear the stream springing back into life. And to compound matters, the clock nearest the TV was running slow.

We have an all Ukrainian opening group.

The first partnership, Anastasiia KALAMURZA / Matvii SNISAR (UKR), were skating to "Money Makes The World Go Round" from "Cabaret". She was wearing a beautiful green dress (with rather a lot of illusion mesh to imitate a very revealing neckline), while he was wearing a full formal suit.

They skated it well.

CaroLiza_fan

Anna BARANENKO / Nikita MYRONENKO (UKR) were wearing contrasting costumes. SHe was wearing an all white dress, while he was wearing a black t-shirt and black trousers.

They were doing a 60's programme. I can't remember all the songs. But "Do You Love Me?" was one of them.

They go into the lead of both FS and overall.

CaroLiza_fan

The final Ukrainian partnership, Marharyta LEONOVA / Ivan CHERNUKHA (UKR), were wearing all black. But her dress has a slash going from her left shoulder down to her right hip.

They started off with "Back To Black" by Amy Winehouse, and then moved to "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga.

Not two songs I would ever have imagined putting together. But, they worked really well!

Sorry, seeing them in the results area, the costumes are actually a very deep blue. (Maybe this is a sign that I should close the curtains and put the lights on).

Definitely my favourite programme of the opening group.

They go into the lead of both FS and overall.

CaroLiza_fan

Right, I am afraid that I am going to have to leave at the end of the Warm-Up for food.

As I said, it's a pity that the long break was an hour ago, rather than now.

I'll try to get back as soon as I can. But, it'll probably be after the Juniors have started.

All the best to those I will miss.

CaroLiza_fan

Yay! I got back just after the Group 1 Warm-Up of the Juniors started.
