3rd Maria Olszewska Memorial 2025 | Mar 5-9

I left to eat after watching three Ukrainian partnerships. And I re-join with another Ukrainian partnership.

Polina KAPUSTINA / Mykhailo KLIUIEV (UKR) were skating to the 2016 Eurovision-winning song, "1944" by Jamala.

They are wearing blue outfits.

Unfortunately, it didn't go as well as it did for their Advanced Novice compatriots that I watched before them.

The fact that Polina left carrying her skates as soon as the announcer started giving out the scores says everything.

The first of our sibling partnerships, Klára VLČKOVÁ / Tomáš VLČEK (CZE), had very contrasting costumes. Klára was wearing an all orange dress. Tomáš was wearing black trousers and a black shirt with an orange slash running from his right shoulder to his solar plexus.

I didn't realise that Klára was the older sibling.

They go into the lead.

Well, that was an Experience. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Yelyzaveta LISOVA / Jakub JANICKI (POL) also had contrasting costumes. Yelyzaveta was wearing a pink dress, while Jakub was wearing one of those jumpsuits that is white at the top, and works it's way down to black at the feet.

By the sounds of things, I think they are talking to a toddler off camera while waiting for the scores.

Awwww. He has come in and joined them, and is sitting on Justyna Plutowska's knee.

Actually, I just checked, and it is Justyna's son.

They go into the lead of both the FD and overall.

A "Star Wars" programme for Marina BELOVODJANINOVA / Aleksandr TOKAREV (CZE)!!!!!!

Unfortunately, the Force wasn't with them when they were doing their Twizzles. In fact, they went so badly that I think a Dark Lord was using the Force against them.

They only had a slim advantage from the SD, so I don't think they'll stay ahead.

Yep, they go into 2nd position in both the FD and overall.

But, they knew it was coming, and took it in good spirit.

CaroLiza_fan

Villo Mira SZILAGYI / Istvan JARACS (HUN) didn't just paint a red door black. They painted their costumes black too.

I love the cut-away design on the back of Villo's dress.

Oh, more Twizzle issues. But, apart from that, they were really good.

They have a massive Hungarian flag that they could hide behind if they wanted to. But, I don't think they will need to hide. I think they're going into the lead.

Oh, they don't. They go into 2nd in both the FD and overall.

Mind you, they are not far behind.

Maite van MULDERS / Robbe de VOS (BEL). I don't think I have ever seen a Belgian Ice Dance partnership before this week. It is good to see a different country.

The music wasn't different, though. "Exogenesis Symphony".

Maite was wearing a dress in various shades of grey (not as many as 50, though). Robbe was wearing a blue shirt and black trousers.

Not bad. Not bad at all.

I can't find any previous Ice Dance results for them. Just Singles results. Are they brand new together?! :jaw:

For a partnership that we haven't seen before, they were very impressive.

They go into the lead.

CaroLiza_fan

Well, @Walt FSHunter. The partnership from your hometown, Tetiana BIELODONOVA / Ivan KACHUR (UKR), were absolutely brilliant!!!

Definitely head and shoulders above everybody else that has skated so far!

They were wearing all black, and skating to a cover of Destiny Child's "Survivor".

If they don't lead, I'm protesting!

No need to worry. They take the lead in both the FD and overall.

CaroLiza_fan

Kristýna ŠTANCLOVÁ / Karel KOSTROŇ (CZE) were skating to "Breathe" by Fleurie and Tommee Profitt.

She was wearing a purple dress. HE was wearing a jumpsuit where the top half was purple and the bottom half was black.

They skated well. But, if I am totally honest, the programme wasn't my taste.

They go into 2nd position in both the FD and overall.

CaroLiza_fan

Now that is more my taste! Enikö KÓBOR / Zoárd KÓBOR (DEU) were skating to a edley of AC/DC songs!!!

Enikö was wearing yet another half-and-half dress. This one was black on the right hand side and black on the left hand side. Zoárd was wearing a white short, black sparkly waistcoat, and black trousers.

Nóra Hoffmann sitting with them. (That's why she wasn't sitting with Villo Mira SZILAGYI / Istvan JARACS at the end of Group 1. She was seeing to the Kóbor twins for their Warm-Up).

They go into the lead of the FD and overall.

We finish with an Olè! 💃

Diane SZNAJDER / Jáchym NOVÁK (CZE). She was wearing an black dress with a red collar, while he was wearing a white shirt and black trousers.

They were really good. I enjoyed that.

There wasn't much between them and the Kóbor twins after the FD. I'm not sure which way this will go. The two programmes were so different, but so good.

They win both the FD and overall.

Diane was the first to realise that they had won, and started celebrating while the two blokes were still waiting to be told the position!

We finish our run of 10 Free Dance segments in a row with the Senior Ice Dancers.

Just the four partnerships. But, it should be good. The Top 3 are so close.

CaroLiza_fan

We start with two of the Huber triplets, Corinna HUBER / Patrik HUBER (AUT).

Corinna is wearing a mainly pink dress, with blue pattern. Patrik is wearing a blue shirt an black trousers

They were skating to a medley of music by Ryuichi Sakamoto. And it was beautiful.

Corinna and Patrik are not in contention for a medal, but they will be out to get a good score.

Awwww. Third triplet Dominik has joined them on the seats!!!

As I said yesterday, I don't know if Corinna and Dominik will be competing in Unified Pairs at the Special Olympics next week. But if they are, I wish them all the best.

And of course, the same goes for Dominik himself if he is competing in Singles.

CaroLiza_fan

Gaukhar NAURYZOVA / Boyisangur DATIEV (KAZ) continuing to impress in what is their best season ever.

This is their third highest ever FD score, and less than a point lower than their highest.

And all four times they have scored in the 90's have been this season.

They are already assured of a medal, but will they improve the colour?

CaroLiza_fan

Ach, I didn't get a chance to post it before they skated!

That was great from Milla Ruud REITAN / Nikolaj MAJOROV (SWE).

She was wearing a very pale yellow dress. He was wearing a blue shirt and black trousers.

They look happier than yesterday.

They comprehensively go into the lead of both the FD and overall.

Can they win it? We will find out shortly.

CaroLiza_fan

Oh boys. I don't want to call this. Sofiia DOVHAL / Wiktor KULESZA (POL) were so good too!

She was wearing a mainly black dress with a silver pattern. He was wearing all black.

Will Polish hearts be broken? Or will they be celebrating?

It's the former. They go into 2nd in the FD and overall.

They showed their disappointment initially, but then smiled.

Congratulations Milla and Nikolaj!!!

Yay, it´s their first international gold medal so happy for them

Day 3 is starting now. And it is all SIngles skating today.

And we start with the last of the Intial level competitions. And it is the oldest age group. Three groups of Initial U18 girls, taking us up to the first resurfacing.

Again, like yesterday, there is a lot of jumping about.

  • We start on the "Additional Groups" Entries / Results page for the first 9 competitions.
  • Then we move to the "Interclub" Entries / Results page for the two Gold U13 competitions.
  • Then we finish on the "ISU" Entries / Results page for the three Advanced Novice competitions.

I see they are now showing adverts during the resurfacings rather than just a static slate.

CaroLiza_fan

That could have been a bad omen.

The second skater in Group 2, #8 Natalia ZWOLINSKA (POL), fell as she was going to her starting position.

But, it didn't faze her. She actually had a pretty good skate. And no falls when it mattered.

She is wearing a beautiful white dress.

She and her team-mates sitting with her are having great craic in the results area.

She goes into 3rd position.
