We had a Japanese partnership giving us a great start to the segment, and we had another Japanese partnership gving us a great finish to the segment!
I really enjoyed that from Azusa TANAKA / Shingo NISHIYAMA (JPN). It may not have been the original recording of "September" like we heard earlier from REN Junfei / XING Jianing (CHN), but at least it was still Earth, Wind And Fire.
They go into 3rd position, just 1.08 points behind the aforementioned Ren / Xing.
Boys, but it is so close between the 2 Japanese and 2 Chinese partnerships. If it stays this close during the Free, it'll be a pity for whoever it is that ends up missing out on the podium.

That is the question. I guess we'll only find out for sure when the stream goes off air.
It looks like it is one stream for the whole day, so it'll be a while until we know.

Good start to the Pairs SP from Ekaterina GEYNISH / Dmitriy CHIGIREV (UZB).
I loved the music. It sounded like a modern twist on a traditional piece. And the silver costumes looked good too.
Not sure about the purple jumper Nina Mozer had over her shoulders, though!

It's not often that you see "Swan Lake" in Pairs skating. But, that is just what Sae SHIMIZU / Raphael Lucas Tsuyoshi HONDA (JPN) just did. (First time I've seen a "Raphael" in his name).
Unfortunately, there were issues. Not least two falls.
There were also a lot of synchronicity issues. Well, they are both still doing Singles, and it takes time to get used to doing things in sync with somebody else. But, it will come with experience.

I've a confession to make. When the music started for WANG Yuchen / ZHU Lei (CHN), I thought it was a cover of Radiohead's "Creep". 
It was actually "Never Be Apart" by TEEKS. And it worked really well.
I loved the all black costumes. (Appropriate given they were skating to a song by a singer from New Zealand).
Again, there were synchonisation issues.

No, Belinda. Isabella Marie GÁMEZ / Aleksandr KOROVIN (PHL) are not the first partnership to represent the Philippines.
Isabella and her former partner David-Alexandre PARADIS were.

When introducing Isabella Marie GÁMEZ / Aleksandr KOROVIN (PHL), he casually dropped in about Gámez / Paradis being the first partnership.
I'm sure Charles Aznavour is spinning in his grave over what has been done to his song in this re-mix. It was brutal!
But, I loved everything else.
Isabella in particular seemed very happy while waiting for their scores.
Mind you, she didn't seeb too thrilled when the scores came through.

I feel pretty much the same about Yuna NAGAOKA / Sumitada MORIGUCHI (JPN)'s programme as I did about the partnership before them.
I enjoyed it. But that cover of Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" was brutal.
As Belinda pointed out, Yuna wasn't happy when they were comng off the ice. And she still wasn't when they were waiting for their scores.
She looked like she was going to cry when the svores were announced.

Ach, the buffering came back during RYOM Tae Ok / HAN Kum Chol (PRK).
They are both wearing black jumpsuits with see through pattern. Tae Ok has had her hair cut short since I last saw her.
I really loved RYOM Tae Ok's previous partnership with KIM Ju-sik. And I was sad when we found out they had split. But, I like this new partnership. They have potential.
She is still an absolute star!
