Alexander Petrov

The injury for one thing.

Well, that's true, but he sounded so sanguine about going to Euros (if selected), that I never got the impression that he thought the injury would stop him from going there - and it shouldn't interfere with his going to Estonia, certainly, as I'm sure they'll adjust his training accordingly.

Oh he's definitely going to Euros, injury or not. I never had any doubt about that.
But the year before he skipped the Tartu summer camp due to injury, so it was not always 100% certain that he would go to the camp.
That's why I was kind of relieved to see the post, it was confirmation that he's in Tartu (and that his physical condition is good enough to attend the camp). He geotagged it of course, because that's his purpose of posting it anyway.

Ah, I see, that makes sense - I'm glad that all seems serene, though. Hopefully, however painful it was - and I don't doubt at all it was - it was something that affected him short-term, rather than something more serious. At least, I hope so!

I hope so too, that all is serene with him!

ps. I meant the camp in 2014, the one that he skipped that is. My mind hasn't fully adjusted to 2016 yet.

That was what I was hoping, as I know my memory is shoddy, but if I forgot he skipped a camp 2015 due to injury... I'd be really cross with myself! And I haven't adjusted to 2016 either.... It always takes some time. And then you get used to it, and then it's suddenly 2017... (sighs sadly)

Well, he was a little injured in June 2015 but that was before the overseas camps took place. It was at Igora, where he previewed his SP.
Then after he got to Erzurum in July he fell ill. I think it was altitude sickness, nothing serious.

I know the last part of last season he was plagued with all manner of ills - the early part of the season, and the latter part of the season, were a bit like day and night... I hope he gets to have a great second half this time! Well, he was injured at Nationals, but still pulled through, and put in two excellent performances, so I think we have cause to be hopeful. :) Thankfully his less stellar performances this season have been at events that don't matter that much.

He picked himself up immediately after that difficult period last season, no depressive moping, that's not the way he reacts. Instead, just working harder than ever and the desire to win is greater than ever. That's his strength.

Some of the others skated their competitive programs but he skated an EX.
Oh Sasha.

He was mentioned in the news article too! I'll just paste the part about Sasha:

"Tartus South Centre became a major star, to see the world champion Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, who attended the gala of Alexei Mishin's camp...

In addition to the best known name of Tuktamysheva, was Aleksandr Petrov, the man who became a Russian individual championship race in third place, and the team will be represented at this year's Euros. Petrov got off Tartus with an especially playful performance, threw the plan as at the end a blouse off and remained on the ice downright bare torso!"
