Alina Zagitova

Alina will have to hold back even more because the smear campaign is revving up - apart from the :poop: heads from sports.ru that - of all people - blame Alina in their hit piece, Kogan, Besti and uber-Alina-hater Utkin have joined in; and as usual they'll go through the whole list of 'experts' to milk all the hype they can get.
Utkin? Every time he says something, the IQ of the entire planet drops by at least 2 points.

It annoys me how that heaping pile of … gets to lie, Alina gets a ton of bad media coverage and then he simply changes his statement.
At first he claimed “I was just filming the audience, Alina just happened to be in the shot and she got pissed”
Later we learn that he wasn’t “just filming the audience”, in fact he followed her into the hallway, then into the bathroom and a parking lot and kept filming her. Not only does he himself admit that, others from the event said the same thing. Of course she’d be upset and want him to get off her. Would anyone else just be okay with stalking? But then he goes out and lies about it and only admits the truth when the damage is already done.

I read this comment on Sports.ru (which is an actual nightmare today from the perspective of an Alina fan). It's an alleged eyewitness account of the incident. The 'journalist' Rustam Imamov has been writing hate filled articles about Alina for almost 4 years now. I wonder if he is pleased with the outcome of all of this? His 'apology' to Alina, her family and her fans, didn't really help anything.

Alina has managed to keep her private life private for more than a year now. Her fans and fan-groups have respected and supported this. Seeing the way certain factions of the media have tried to destroy everything that Alina touches, it's understandable. It's fair to critique her skating but they have attacked her for her test scores, her admission to university, her body, (is she thin enough yet?!?!) her speech....the list goes on and it never stops.

“This hoopoe after the match followed her and filmed her leaving the arena. To be honest, Alina left the service room, through the exit for the club's employees / players, went to the parking lot, waiting for her martyr. And our Rusya imagines himself a paparazzi and decided to catch them. And when Alina saw that he was filming her at the car of her martyr, she approached him to insert *****.
This situation was witnessed by the press of Ak Bars, even Magnitka. Yesterday a guy from the press Ak B came to Rusik's comments and wrote that Rusya was openly lying. That he himself was a witness of the whole incident and saw what Russia was trying to shoot and for what. And that there were other people who saw him chasing after Alina when she went to the exit and he started filming just when she was leaving. In addition to him, another person wrote there that he also witnessed the filming, but not in the parking lot and he did not see the conflict. When he left, he saw how Rusya, starting from the turnstiles, followed Alina and filmed her.
It was after such comments that Rusik removed his opus in the cart. "

Now compare with the original news from RI. But the local contingent of norms when an adult man pursues a 19-year-old with incomprehensible goals. ==

After reading Kogan's opinion that it's 'normal for athletes to get hate' so no one need 'comment', at least we know RusFed isn't getting any more of her money. Not that they ever 'protected' her when they did pocket their percentage, but at least they seemed content to remain silent.

Seems like they are determined to 'dethrone' her in anticipation of the next reign of the new Russian Olympic Champion. Not totally surprising seeing as how they never wanted her on that 'throne' in the first place. I guess we'll see how that works out for them. Time will tell.

Besti saying we should 'forgive' Alina would have made me laugh if the rest of it weren't so infuriating.

I think you said once that Layshev was a dangerous enemy for anyone to have. I wonder if there is any connection? I can't imagine being a teenager and having the director of my school diminishing me and my accomplishments every time he opens his mouth. :(

This kind of reminds me of the time she posted the video of herself driving the car at 16 with her dad. The police in her home town were notified and people on social media on both sides of the argument literally argued themselves into complete exhaustion.

For people discussing Alina's alleged 'connections' - who are they? Not RusFed, not the media, not Sambo70, not anyone listed among the Figure Skating Elite of Russia other than Navka or Yagudin and maybe Averbukh. Her 'connections' have done nothing to protect her in the media from what I can see. Or even speak up to defend her. (Edit: Yagudin and Averbukh did defend her during her first season of Ice Age.)

What other skaters have had their low exam scores made public? Or been criticized for paying to attend a university? She didn't get the tuition fee waived or receive a scholarship but I guess it was still a problem that she would take up space.

Now it looks like she is not allowed to protect her private life. The one thing she has managed to keep to herself for over a year. But Imamov decides to take the opportunity to ruin the one thing he hasn't gotten around to poisoning yet. I hope it was worth it to him.

Bless Free Skater a thousand time over. This blog documents everything that happened. The timeline and every word written by Rustam & Friends about this mess as well as the dissenting opinions. I can't understand the Russian but I'm bringing it here anyway. I hope it doesn't get deleted by Sports.ru but I am not optimistic given the way the wind seems to be blowing. No matter what happens it doesn't change the fact that Alina has the best fans ever.

It really is interesting timing. Imamov sat on this for two days waiting to drop it. I guess he was recovering from being so rudely addressed by the person he was stalking. If it was a random man, Alina could have called the police, but since Imamov writes hate-filled articles about her it's all perfectly fine and Alina should be ashamed of herself for having a problem with it. At least Besti can forgive her!

I hope Imamov (and Utkin) learn the old lesson that "you reap what you sow".

Disgusting.

It never really seems to work like that in life. :( People get rewarded for their bad behavior. I try to always remember this quote when something seems particularly unfair -

"People pay for what they do, and still more for what they have allowed themselves to become. And they pay for it very simply; by the lives they lead.” - James Baldwin

It is so ridiculous how they managed to turn this situation upside down completely, and go on with her being the one at fault, needing to apologize and someone needing to forgive her.
Complete circus.
She doesn’t need to apologize to anyone for anything. A creepy dude, who constantly writes hate articles about her, stalked her all the way into the parking lot. I’m sure at first she tried to pretend to not notice, while they were still in the building. But he kept following her, he never stopped and she had to do something. Somehow finally standing up for yourself makes you a villain? What a weird dystopian world we live in.

Alina says it right there: some people manage to twist stories so much, it’s almost a talent.

There are journalists who do actual investigations (I.e. Panama papers), who work to keep humanity informed about issues and deserve to be respected. I would never be able to call this guy a journalist, because he doesn’t deserve it.

This is really upsetting, I still am a bit confused by some of the translations but I get the gist and have to say this guy could have been charged in many other countries by the police.
From what I read, Alina warned the man that she would take legal action. Then this man distorted what she said and lied to everyone. It’s disgusting that people always deprive public celebrity of their basic rights. If someone refused to “share” her privacy, journalists would frame her up. They’re vampires which lives on other’s pain.

It’s Olympic season, I thought Russian “elites” and so called journalists would pay more attention on those potential Olympic Champion. Alina is literally a former athlete. Why did people constantly spread hatred toward a girl for almost 4 years?

It hurts my heart. It's been more than three and a half years. She isn't competing. She isn't taking funding from RusFed. She isn't taking up Eteri and Daniil's valuable time and creativity. She isn't taking another skater's spot on the team. She isn't depriving anyone else of a livelihood by co-hosting Ice Age. She isn't flooding Instagram with posts or spamming social media with selfies. Or showing her face at every event.

She is 19 years old. She has been dealing with this since she was 15, for the most part, in silence. With silence from her parents, her extended family, friends, her coaches. Not once have her parents made a single protest about Alina's treatment in the media. I cannot imagine the strength it must have taken to keep silent. Even when the police in her hometown were involved they never made a single statement. It was hard to understand at the time, but given what we know now, it was the right choice.

The strange thing is that I think all of this craziness made Alina more loved by the people that love her. And those who don't were never going to love her anyway, but she certainly has made them crazy.

For me, it’s so hard not to be angry at those people. I always felt sad about Alina as people tried so hard to ignore what she has achieved. She’s just a loser who retired too early. She’s just a foolish girl just because she is not a Moscow girl. She was an athlete who was silenced by her coach team and fs elites long time ago.
I know her family kept low key to protect her, but every time she was dragged into difficult situation, no one spoke for her. This really makes me cry. Those people despise her, consume her and they will never feel sorry about what they have done. It really sucks.:cry:

On a positive note, the hashtag in support of Alina was trending in the #1 spot on Twitter and her fans are defending her like lions. :)

They may never feel sorry, but you never know, life is a long road. The things you think will never change have a way of changing. I guess we'll see.

One thing has always been certain - Alina's fans never fail to surprise me with their support and respect for her. No matter how hard certain people have tried to bring Alina down (and lord knows they have tried - remember the copycat bs from Daniil's Bad Guy choreo?) she just keeps rising.

Zagitova's alleged, according to journalist Rustam Imamov, statement: "I'll sue you, I've got deep connections!", is a great example of the price of fame (and the "he said, she said" situation which most of the time has no factual proof of any action). When you chose the path of fame, you must understand what road you're on and pay just as for everything else in life. Your IG post, Alina, will rally your fans to support you but at the age of 19 it would be foolish of you to view such incidens with surprise. :) If you don't want media attention, which inevitably comes with media muck, then chose Julia Lipnitskaia's or Elena Radionova's path, get off the stage and start coaching (although Lena just got her YT show :clap:). Let's just not forget that you are the only women's single skater since Witt to have a world championship winning season afer becoming an OGM. (y)That is a a feat people should be focusing on and not this stench.

FYI, folks, an imam is a muslim priest. Doesn't seem that there is much holiness in your journalistic work, Mr. Imamov.:biggrin:

Also, a piece of friendly advice for fellow user JazzUp: if you are truly not a lemming then you shouldn't go with that #imnotalemming! hashtag. That's what komrades up on the Roos would call "palevo".:laugh: Just jokes, man. Cheers!

She deserves all this for hosting Ice Age? That's the only thing she's done that Lipnitskaia hasn't also done. Maybe she will coach after she graduates from university and gets her coaching license. She's 19. These things take time. Especially since it would seem she actually plans to attend the university and not just get her diploma in the mail. In the meantime she needs to make money. That tuition isn't going to pay for itself.

If she was courting attention of any kind, much less media attention, she would probably have more than 260 + posts on Instagram in 4 years.

Do you really think she was surprised? After three and a half years? I think she was more fed up and just snapped. But you do have a point - Silence is golden. If you don't say it they can't use it against you.

It's time to speak out publicly. Alina has been rolled over too many times. She's not gonna take it anymore and that's good.

This guy should be banned from any event AZ is working in the future.

As much as it pains me I want to attempt to be fair. Other people, (not sure who), were either following her into the bathroom or waiting for her outside the bathroom. Or both. :( Either way, that behavior, along with grabbing her hand, understandably upset Alina. Then this clown follows her out into the parking lot to film her. :( Alina didn't like it and let him know it and now we are here. :(

But I am fine with banning him from Alina for just being an awful person towards her.

On a positive note, Olga Ermolina, Russian Figure Skating Federation spokesperson, gave Alina some support on her Instagram post.

The same Ermolina that Alina argued with at the press conference after the Channel 1 Cup. Things can change. Thanks, Ermolina.

Hopefully the crazies and those who try to get dirt on alina will take a step back maybe she does need to threaten to sue people in the future.

Yeah all good with Ermolina now. ;) and it wasn't really much of an argument at the press conference in February. It was just AZ standing up for her team.
