I'm not the one reading anything into posts. The only thing I could have possibly been snippy about was the fact that I wasn't sure if I was the one you were referring to as having the misunderstanding. "the poster" as you referred to, could have meant everyone, but I wanted clarity.

I am not sure about Elliot's choices... Trouble isn't right for him IMHO, and I can't place the "If I Can Dream"

I'm also not sure about Tay's first choice of In The Ghetto, as I don't like anyone but Elvis' version of that song. He's gotta really emote for every word...

this should be an interesting night, and I can't wait to hear my dad's reaction (he's a huge EP fan ) ....

I stand corrected and I too wanted to clarify my opinion that I must have been in some way responsible for the misunderstanding. Otherwise I would not have been trying to clarify. And as misunderstandings go, THOUGHT you were saying I was the one with spelling and grammatical issues. I stand corrected.

Agreed, but I think that you trying to clarify was equal in me clarifying as well, so why would you comment unless offense was taken? That I believe was my stance on my original response. But it appeared to be for the same reason I had prior to this fiasco.

That is nothing more then my own lack of knowledge of the "new code talk" established after one of the most commonly used "Abbreviations - acronyms" has been used for meaning something else. That is why I told RD thank you because I was not sure what it had been adapted to mean in the world of frequent posters. I humbly accept the education, It is appreciated so I will have a clearer understanding in the future.

Reading over your prior post, I am not sure why I was so conclusive about you being defensive, you were clearly sisinct, subjective and practical in your post that only appeared to be "heatedly reactive." Apologies. Your last line was taken by me as being something I did. AA

I don't think that just because Clay's voice wasn't compared to someone else's made it anymore unique or special than RS's. Rueben was being compared to some GREAT singers. Is it necessary for a pop idol to move around? First, what is the difference between a pop idol and a pop singer with a successful recording career? Barry White (AKA the man with the voice that could turn on a dead woman ) was a successful pop artist but not what I would call an idol, Well, maybe to those dead women, LOL. The Beatles didn't move around but were certainly idols. Any others?

Toni, "If I Can Dream" is one of my favorite Elvis songs and really showed off his ability to sing gospel type songs. He sang this at the end of the 68 comeback special dressed all in white. Piel - I'm sure I've heard it... I just can't remember it now... my dad forced me to listen to Elvis from before I was born (Mom was Michael Jackson, Dad Elvis... I was abused lol)

I think Clay's breakout moment was either Solitaire or Somewhere Out There (Of all the movies you chose the one about a mouse. - Simon)... or maybe Bridge Over Troubled Water

"IICD" was written by Elvis' musical director IIRC especially for the closing of the show. It was recorded in June (shown in December) just after the assasinations of RFK and MLK.

WOW what a night!

Taylor was entertaining as usual. Liked both of his songs especially the way he did "in the Ghetto".

Chris was good too. "ALLC" just isn't the same without Johnny Z. and his hat. This was Chris' weaker song tonight.

Elliott got my votes. His "I Can Dream" was different from Elvis' (duh) but I still liked it. "Trouble" was good for him too. I was fully prepared to not like his songs tonight so this was a very pleasant surprise.

Katharine had a not so good night. Her first song was cute and she sounded like Brenda Lee (go figure). But I agree with Simon it was like a scene from Anytown High School's performance of "Elvis: The Musical". "Can't Help Falling In Love" was bad all the way through.

I have thought all along that it would be Katharine and Chris in the final. With Katharine having a bad night and Elliott having a good one she may go home tomorrow.

I think Taylor can get away with teh schtick as long as all of the people who "dont get him" can get away with reminding us that her performances are embarassing you have to have someone to annoy you, eh?

If you can't STAND to watch him, just download his songs (there are several sites that record and share the performances each week) he has a GREAT voice, that would definitely do well as a recording one...

All four deserve top 2, as long as Elliot gets his nerves in check... anymore needless vibrato and I'm going to lose it! UGH!

Soul Patrol all the way, baby!

Music is in the ear of the beholder. If I listen to Taylor with my eyes closed, he has, for ME, a blah, every day kind of voice. Yes, he'd do well recording, because most singers these days don't have a great voice anyway, and his is a bit distinctive....just boring to me.

No doubt Piel, I was so "disturbed" by Kat doing, Hound-dog I had to start reading posts, glad the rest of the performances made up for it. I did enjoy the first portion of, Can't Help Falling In Love, but the last of it went down hill. She could have picked something less known rather than 2 - of not only the more well known, but so farg'n hard! How about, What Would I Do Without My Music (only performed by Elvis in his last tour and written for him) or, Surrender - Kat vibrato heaven on that tune. Even a well known like, Are You Lonesome Tonight? - the talking part in it would have been a great standout, yet it probably had been cut to make time. Oh well Kat.

Was outstandingly impressed with Elliott, really stood out. Not so hip on Chris's Suspicious Minds, and the sudden burst at the end of his second was a little late but necessary. He always looks (more so to me then the others) like that mic is going to go right down his throat. I was taught "old school, keep it out of you face, sing across the mic. It always was stated to be a "insecurity method" "Hide behind the mic. I want to see the face of a singer singing - call me odd. But now the microphones have even changed to fit that style, so I am the minority on that one. No biggie, at least most of the AIs have mic control - which is too rare in live performances these days.

Anyhoo, Taylor IMO really deserves this one. Again I use the phrase "the whole package" yet Taylor is consistent and seems very very very cool. Not my favorite voice ever, but good enough for gold and nice to listen to.

I am afraid my favorite will be going home tomorrow, but it is not as though that wouldn't be totally fair - she was out performed tonight.

Remember when he did "Build Me Up Buttercup"? To this DAY, I cannot hear that song without hearing Simon -- "Build Me Up Buttercup? What on EARTH does that even mean?? That has got to be one of the stupidest -- you sounded good, you did fine, it's just a STUPID SONG....."

was not impressed with Elliot - his voice just doesn't work for Elvis... or at least not the second song... and I can't stand the vibrato... I was having visions of season 2's CARMAN *insert scream here*

For the first time this year, I actually voted! I voted 15 times for Katharine albeit pressing redial probably one hundred times! I doubt my votes will make a difference, though.

And Kristi skated the heck out of "Trouble". So....if a figure skater can make a song her own, which Kristi did, any other type of performer should be able to. I liked Katharine combining the two songs. Forgetting the lyrics is just not cool. She tried to do too much with both of her songs last night.
