American Idol - Season 7

They said that this season was the best with talent...so far I am not seeing it. It is just so boring. I think that most sing horribly, with the exception of a few. This is the first year that I am actually not really watching every moment. In fact last night I was watching america's next top model and switching back to idol during commercials. Hopefully it will get better in the coming weeks.

I taped the ladies and watched it this morning.
What an hour-and-a-half of "averageness or less" IMO.

Amanda only sounds good when she gets rough, her melody/softer parts were out-of-tune to my ears.

The only one I really enjoyed was Brooke singing You're So Vain.

It definitely is a year for picking the wrong song! Some of the ladies I *think* I would like if they were singing something different.

I think they may just as well give the title to David - the young kid - and send the rest home. They may as well "cut to the chase" and spare us the agony of having to hear the rest of the crooners. It's pretty clear - he lights up the stage when he sings. It's a no brainer.

The girls are terrrible. End of story.

Lad - if that's the case, just don't watch ;) they're not forcing you to sit through anything. ;)

Yaeger & Carrico for the males & Lushington & Whitaker (the two youngest girls. My guess is that all the teens are voting for Archuleto & letting the other teens fall by the wayside.)

the four that got the ax=

Robbie = the long hair (did anyone else know that was a wig and not his real hair)
Jason Yeager = I was surprised = I thought he did good
Alexandrea = the tall black girl
Alaina = don't remember what she sang

I thought Danny should have gone =

I thought the four that were cut were appropriate at this time. I think the guys, however, are out singing the gals at this point............42

I agree with the 4 who went home.
I agree the guys have it over the girls, except for Brooke.
But I also do NOT see yet where the judges and Ryan can keep saying "the best talent so far" or whatever it is they are saying about this seasons AI.
I am not an expert on music by any means but to my ears it seems there is a lot of out-of-tune things going on and just no real "knocks your socks off" performances.

As much as I can appreciate David A's performance from this week, it is not my cup-of-tea and I would not buy his album most likely.(if he had an album)

I usually like rockers, too, but Amanda and Robbie just aren't/weren't cutting it for me. I don't know if it's because they selected the wrong songs and did not showcase their talent or that they just don't have a lot of talent. I actually would've sent Amanda home this week over one of the other girls...or sent her home in addition to the other two. I'm not "diggin'" her.

Thanks for the update. I was taping Survivor and was taking out all the commercials so I didn't see AI. I was wishing AI would be on later so I could watch.

I guessed last tuesday that that wasn't Robbie;s hair. He;s pretty much a poser. I'm kinda glad he was chosen to go, although, I would trade him for Danny. He's kinda smarmy. When he gives attitude, it just seems like it's forced.

Who else wants to smack Randy & Paula? yeah, Simon is way too blunt, sometimes, but least he's honest about how he feels. Paula's so nice that she's not willing to give the truth. It's no wonder she annoys Simon so much lol That said, I do like her.

David A. crying made me emotional. He's sucha cutie pie. But unlike Paula, I don't want to hang his head on my rearview mirror!

Paula's the only one of the judges I can't stand

I was really bummed about Jason... I really like him.

The guys were great tonight !!! Here is who we (my house hold) thinks will go home this week from the guys ... Luke and Chikezie or Danny. There was certainly some amazing singing tonight though

I found this kind of an uneven, and in spots, rocky, night. I hope the girls do better tomorrow than the guys did tonight.

My rankings:

1. David Cook -- He took a hideously sappy song, put a new twist on it, and made it into something really cool. Good vocal, too. You can't ask for much more than that.

2. Danny -- I liked his take on "Tainted Love" a lot; I thought this was really cool, also.

3. Jason -- I'd actually never heard that song before, but it was a great performance. Guess he didn't need the guitar after all, but ironically, this would have been a perfect song to use one.

4. Chikizie -- Not nearly up to last week, but -- good vocal. Terrible song.

5. David Archuleta -- He's been better. But this was still pretty good.

6. Michael -- I find him highly over-rated. The constant Michael Hutchence/Jim Morrison imitation is already wearing thin.

7. Luke -- TRANSCENDENTALLY CHEESY. Surely he's not going to advance after that, he ain't THAT good-lookin'.....

8. David Hernandez-- He absolutely BUTCHERED the song (couldn't believe the judges actually LIKED it), and even beyond that, his mannerisms and facial expressions and "performing style" really kind of creep me out. He's been my least favorite for all 3 weeks now and I'm hoping tonight was his last effort. Besides, I think TWO guys with the same name in the Top 12 is quite enough...

And was it just me, or was Paula in RARE form tonight?? It's pretty scary when Randy tries to shut you up before Simon does. Nights like tonight do NOTHING to dispell any rumors that you might be ON something. And actually, for the most part, she seems a lot more with it in general this season than last season, but after tonight....

Jason Castro + "Hallelujah" = all I need to watch. He's now one of only 4 AI contestants over the years that I will quit watching the rest of the season when he is voted off. (Unfortunately, none of the other three I felt that way about ever won....)

bottom two = Luke = stupid song choice
= Danny N. = I don't think he is as good as he thinks he is and I'm getting tired of his attitude -to cocky

My top favorites of the night? David Cook & Jason Castro (of course). Chiquezie was pretty good as was Hernandez. The rest were forgettable. What's with the tongue flicking from Archuleto? I found it very disconcerting. IMO the child is overtrained & if you want to compete with the big boys then its past time to begin acting like one.
