It was all about Melinda, Lakesha and Jordan last night!! As for the guys, I really liked what Blake did with that song. I admire how he looks at music from all aspects. I disagree with the judges.. Chris, sounded horrible!!! Like a drunk Justine Timberlake...LOL

Melinda and LaKisha hit it out of the park...but let's see how well they do on Bon Jovi night. Last night was tailor-made for divas, and based on performance, Stephanie will be the next diva to go. But there's a long line of people who should go first! This has to be the worst top 12 ever, or at least in the four seasons I've watched.
The guys seemed to be overcome by a combination of estrogen and glory notes last night, which was about what I expected. I was really disappointed with Blake and Sligh - if you're going to go on about how you put your own stamp on a classic, you have to make it interesting. Blake confirmed that he's a better performer than he is a singer. Don't even get me started on the other Chris - he brought the nasal AND the goat vibrato. It hurt to listen to him. Weirdly enough, the only guy I thought was good (if a little shouty) last night was Phil. I finally got an idea of why he's in the competition at all.
We've got three more months of this and already, I'm tuning in only to see if Melinda's singing can give me goosebumps (yep), and if Sanjaya's hair scares me (yep again). Someone's stylist was smoking crack this week, it's the only rational explanation!

Rave, why Stephanie before Haley???

I thought Blake slaughtered that song. He is soooooooooooo nasal. I didn't think Chris Sligh was so bad, just wasn't a good song for him. Sanjaya is just sooooooo sweet. I think one of the things I figured out for myself last night was that he doesn't have a booming voice and that makes him stand out right there.

Dee, I don't class Haley in with the "divas" because her voice isn't strong enough. She will probably go before Stephanie, but of the three "divas" I think Stephanie is the least impressive. (And this is a little snarky, but the first time I saw her sing I thought, "LaToya 2.0? No, she's Finishing School Fantasia!")
I agree about Sanjaya, he does seem really sweet. And he has a good tone, but I think he desperately needs some vocal coaching to learn to use his voice properly. He just needs a few years, then look out, Bollywood. (J/K)
And AI needs to fire the stylist that let him hit the stage with that hairstyle. Poor Sanjaya could make a legal case for contestant abuse!

I agree Sanjaya is not as bad as a lot of people make him out, but he doesn't belong in this competition... (though this year he's not really drowning as much as he would have in other seasons)

and chalk me up as another person who gets a Jackson vibe from Sanjaya... he could totally sub for one of the Jackson 5

:yes: I'm agreeing with the likening of Senjaya with Michael Jackson. He sings like Michael talks...all quiet and meek like.

Senjaya doesn't have a bad voice, it's just it isn't impressive nor big enough, IMO.

Now I want to preface this with I don't know if this is true or not.

They were talking on the radio this morning about Sanjaya being safe again. They said the phone service they use is located in India and Sanjaya is from there. I am not certain it's true but it's interesting.

I've heard reports of a call center, too, but rumors like that always seem to surface when a contestant is doing inexplicably well. (Last season, just before the finals, I heard that Kat's dad had hired a call center for just that night to vote his daughter to victory. If that was true, he spent a lot of money for nothing.) I think Sanjaya's benefitting from the Worster vote and sympathy votes from people who just don't like the way he's being treated by the judges. (JMHO) If he doesn't go next week, though, he's going to be on the tour.
And is anyone else getting really sick of the "are we or aren't we gay" banter going on between Simon and Ryan? I wish they'd stop it, it's just embarrassing.

I think it's incredibly entertaining... at least we don't have the paula simon love hate relationship to live through... someones I have to wonder if Simon hits too far below the belt, I don't think all of those looks Ryan gives are fake... sometimes Simon's jabs seem to really hurt lol

I also agree the Vote For The Worst bloggers are one if not the only people to blame on this Sanjaya thing
