Anastasia Mishina & Aleksandr Galliamov

Here you are.

Host: Now the guys who have secured the leadership of Zhenya Medvedeva’s team after pairs event are going to join us. It was definitely difficult, but still in champion way?

Hostess: Yes, “We are the Champions” and finally the programme has sounded as it should have been. Your team has now a big advantage. Are you already relaxed or is it nothing determined yet?

AG: Well, I want to thank everyone who supported us. Really the routine has sounded as it should have been, in champion way. And now we have tried to change clothes fast and we are going to cheer for our girls and simply wish them good luck.

Hostess: Nastya, we have begun to speak about your team’s advantage. How are you? Already relaxed or is it nothing determined yet?

AM: No, nothing is determined yet. We will support our team. I believe that very much depends on the support. So we put all the remained strength into support of our girls.

Host: Can you hear the support on the ice? There is such a noise as if it is some kind of soccer and not figure-skating.

AM: Yes, we can hear, especilally when they shout near the rinkside and…

Hostess: I would ask you to hold the mic closer so we can hear you. Doesn’t it distract you? You are up to do, let’s say, a throw and here you have them shouting to you, ready to throw themselves into the ice? Doesn’t it disturb you?

Host: Zhenya Medvedeva for instance used to say that when they shout to her before skating it is a bit distracting for her.

AM: No, it cheers me up. For instance if we speak about the throw, I am already tired, almost strengthless. They shout to me: “Come on! Come on! Do it!” And no way, it must be done.

AG: We really hear our team. They supported us very much. And we heard not only our team, but all the audience as well. And they supported us so much in transitions from one element to another throughout the entire routine that we wanted to do the next element better than a previous one.

Hostess: Now we are going to cheer for the girls because the battle outcome depends on them. Nothing is really determined yet. The ice is heat up. All the spectators are standing. We all are waiting for the girls. It will be a battle of quads, a battle of nerves, a battle of self-possession. We are breathing out and waiting.

Host: The upshot of Channel One Cup to follow right now.

It was so nice to see them skate two different programs this weekend! I especially loved the one from the 'Ice Age' show.

I agree! I am a new fan!
My knowledge of Russian is limited though, so I couldn't fully appreciate the lyrics. Hopefully we get to see them in more exhibitions!

Nastya and Sasha had a mini interview with Absolute Skating before the competition.

(about their first Worlds)
A: This is our first senior Worlds, we did compete at junior Worlds, but now it’s in seniors.
We already got used to this rink, we really like the whole atmosphere here.
N: There are a lot of restrictions and, of course, it feels less comfortable...
A: ..but after these two days here we already got used to them. Of course, it’s unusual, but what can we do, these are safety measures and we can’t do without them.
N: Also, we are just really happy that at whatever format World Championships take place.

(about skating without an audience)
A: We already had such experience to compete without an audience, it happened at the 5th stage of the Russian Cup. Of course, it’s a bit awkward but at least now we know what we should expect, it won’t be a novelty for us now.
N: The more so since on the junior level it happens quite often that we don’t have a lot of public coming to watch. And we haven’t forgotten it yet, how to perform to such a small number of people.

(about their work with Ksenia Stolbova during the training camp in Novogorsk before they left for Stockholm)
A: She came to consult and we’re really grateful, there were certain points she helped us with.
N: She brought a very much needed outside perspective. Ksenia doesn’t see us every day and because of that she immediately notices certain things which our coaches might not see [because they see us every day].

(about red-and-black costumes for both programs)
N: We just love red colour and so do our coaches. And I think it suits us well.
A: Yes, we really love these costumes, now we only need to perform well in them and to bring joy to spectators.

Congrats 💐👏🏆🥇💛 I am so happy for them. To me it was so we'll deserved. Managed to cope with their nerves and pressure and showed their best. They made an amazing free program and had throws and jumps in the late part of the program. Technically and mindfully they were winners. They were my champions right after the free skate.

Ps I declared them champions in instagram after their free skate before I see the leading 2 couples and I started loosing followers🤫

I've been rhapsodizing about Anastasia and Alexandr in threads all over this forum, so finally, why not here? :)

Everything they did at Worlds, :points:how they skated, how they appreciated each other, how Nastya blew kisses to Moskvina as they came off the ice, how Nastya told that Alexandr Stepin choreographed both their programs.

And most of all, how they skate ... which I find to be connected -- maybe not in a conventional way that so many people expect and assume to be the most correct way -- and expressive, and their technique is just stunning and contributes to the magic of the program, which is also in their joy and emotion. Not "juniorish" at all to me. So there.

Galliamov is so compelling to watch, and something I love is that Nastya is so comfortable in her starring role that she's quite okay with him being the star too. Just so wonderful, especially from two who are so young ... but IMO they're rather like Gordeeva and Grinkov in that they're old souls. And everything kind, gentle, unassuming and quite brilliant.

1tv broadcast, Grishin?

FS: 'Imagine if they win the World Championships skating to We Are The Champions?'

BBC iPlayer, Robin Cousins (1980 Olympic champion) and Kat Downes
I just liked the commentary from this one - Robin said he watched as many events as he could during lockdown and said it was glorious to watch them! 😊
