I really hope so too.! My only quibble would be that I thought all the flags raised on the flagpoles needed a good iron! But easily sorted for next time. :cheer2:

Natasha McKay quotes in this one.
I thought that too about the flags!

I had a wonderful time in Sheffield. Great seats, although one of our party's seats had been double booked and they initially tried to tell us that the rightful occupant would just have to move around the arena to any seat that became available, rather than moving the single person who had booked it later via some kind of "glitch". We complained and insisted it was swiftly sorted, with the poor Japanese girl being moved to an equivalent seat on the other side of the arena.

Met so many lovely customers and friends and also, at the very last minute, @Ruthypegs which was the icing on the already delicious cake! I really hope that the UK gets the chance to host more high level competitions and that the organisers are brave enough to reduce the ticket prices somewhat; that arena was nowhere near full as so many people were priced out.

Possibly the best part was Ashlie and Atl being asked to perform at the gala and Atl picking Ashlie up so that she could be seen in the group selfie. He really is the kindest person. Interestingly, it was the ISU who invited them to perform, not BIS. I got to see my costumes in action on the ice and "my kids" in person off it, which also resulted in some interesting gossip as I was suddenly surrounded by the great and good of British figure skating...

Firstly, Zoe Jones' daughter, Zinia Wood, will be skating in a few minutes in Skate Celje. (It is running waaayyyy behind schedule).

EDIT: It turns out that she withdrew.

If anybody is watching the Warsaw Cup, the commentator is Diana Lapierre, who used to coach at Murrayfield.

Her daughter, Catherine-Charlotte, who used to represent Murrayfield, is now representing the Warsaw club, and finished 9th in Junior Ladies at the Polish Championships last season.

Well, I suppose it was to be expected, given the time difference and their treatment of the Senior GP’s so far.

No coverage whatsoever of the NHK Trophy on British Eurosport’s linear channels. Just the World Feed coverage on the Player / Discovery+.

Hope this helps

It was fab to meet you too, @WednesdayMarch !

It was a brilliant event, wasn't it? I agree, though, that the tickets should have been cheaper - I know a lot of people who would have considered attending if they had been more affordable. Pricing people out isn't a good way to grow the sport.

Your costumes for Ashlie and Atl looked amazing! The people I was sitting next to couldn't believe that Ashlie and Atl were only 13 and 15 - they were very impressed with their skating and talent.

(It sounds like you had a fantastic time. If you're at the British Nationals, please say hi!)

I had an amazing time in Sheffield too, such an honor to see international skating in the UK, it would have been great to have met some of the posters on here as I attended on my own and desperately wanted to discuss the skating with somebody. Here's to the Europeans in 4 years time, or maybe something sooner!🤞

What a shame not to have met you, @thatdarncat - I would have love to have discussed/watched the skating with someone else, too. If you're at Helsinki next week, let me know!

No sadly not going to Helsinki, my phone battery runs low so quickly and I needed it for the drive home otherwise I would have checked this page on Sunday I would have seen WednesdayMarches post and I could have said hi.

Such a shame. Would have loved to have met you.

I wished I could’ve meet everyone too but I was much to nervous to approach anyone. I think I saw you @WednesdayMarch and your friend with dyed white hair in the toilet queue! 😂

I was sat next to two lovely ladies though who I think aren’t on this forum. One from Ayr who was attending her first competition and the other from Nottingham who was at Europeans in 2012 and so knew the area.

In other news with the NHK dance event officially over Lilah and Lewis have officially qualified for the GPF as only Hawayek and Baker and Gilles and Poirier could qualif above them.

They are the second British couple ever to qualify after the Kerrs did in 2009 with two bronzes!

I have news for you. Her spectacular white hair is 100% natural! (I can't tell you how envious I am of it, too! Especially as it always looks tidy and I resemble a grumpy Shetland pony that's been through a very unforgiving hedge...) You should have said hello! We're quite friendly. Honest.

Great news about Lilah and Lewis qualifying for the GPF!

I just had to share this with you guys.

This priceless image was made possible thanks to the skills of @NoNameFace!!!  :points:

Oh, I hope Debi was watching and saw this!!!

Tried to upload Alexa Severn and Ash & Atl Gala Performances from Sheffield after a week. Instantly blocked worldwide. This is ridiculous. I might aswell delete my Youtube channel. These are teenage children whose relatives who live abroad and friends would like to see them skate. I doubt many terrestrial channels showed them, even Eurosport Player didn't. Not everyone knows how to wade through the ISU channel Speed Skating and find the full Gala to search. Sooo disappointing. (n) :(:scratch2::devil::bang::drama::shrug:

If you can get past all the ads on this site, Robin Cousins says the UK is ready to host Worlds.

I've been arguing for years that Glasgow would make a perfect host for Worlds/Euros and so I'm pleased to see it's something they're at least considering. Given that half of the GB team members who were at Sheffield are Scottish/train in Scotland I think that it would also be popular with skaters!

Well, that would be fantastic, but going on the ticket prices for the recent GP, I don't think anybody would be able to afford to attend!

Would be great to have the world championships its been too long. Robin seems to be doing a great job pushing the BIS. Not sure about Scotland, bit far for me.

It is annoying as I think British teams have to submit their music to BIS and get copyright permission before they can play their music at competitions.

Same as last week, I’m afraid.

No coverage whatsoever of the GP Espoo on British Eurosport’s linear channels. Just the World Feed coverage on the Player / Discovery+.

The linear channels are concentrating on ski sports and curling.

Hope this helps
