Not sure if it's been mentioned, but Sophia Bushell and Alex Lapsky are on IPS so I'm guessing they have split. They last competed together at JGP Couchevel I in August.

Well, they're included in the Time Schedule PDF's for the Shorts. Here's the Entries / Results Page:

Whether Phebe, James, Lilah and Lewis show up is another matter.

Personally, I would prefer if they didn't. The Ice Dance competitions in Sheffield are on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th, while in Turin the practices are on Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th, with the competitions on Friday 9th and Satuday 10th.

Bearing in mind that they have to travel from Sheffield to Turin as well, that's a tough schedule. And we want them to be at their peak at the GP Final.

So, I would say they would be better skipping Nationals.

I suppose the one saving grace is that all the Free Dance segments are first on the bill on Sunday, so they would all be finished by 15:00. It's not like on Saturday, where the Short Dance segments don't even start until 18:00, finishing at near enough 19:00.

I was going to ask if the Fed's rules allow for this sort of situation, or is it stipulated that the Champions MUST be selected for the Majors (as is the case in some other countries)? But, then I checked and we have 2 Ice Dance slots in Junior Worlds, Europeans, and Senior Worlds. So, it wouldn't mess it up for either partnership if they skipped Nationals.

Just found out something you might find interesting.

Due to British Eurosport 1 showing cycling from Lee Valley, and British Eurosport 2 showing the Scottish Open snooker, the linear coverage of the Women's Downhill race from Lake Louise on Saturday is being shown on BT Sport 2.

The "no advert" coverage will still be available on the Eurosport Player / Discovery+.

Well, if Eurosport are now able to use the BT Sport channels as overflow for Alpine Skiing, there is nothing to stop them doing the same with the figure skating!

It just proves my theory that Eurosport doesn't care about figure skating any more, now that they know they are losing the rights after this season.

I agree I think they should focus on being at their absolute best for the GPF.

I think the selection criteria says something about being allowed to skip and still be selected if major international competitions clash, though I don't know if a week apart counts. It should. Either way they have the 2 slots though.

Maybe BIS can take the optimistic step of moving nationals from next year! I feel like a week after the GPF would be better - December before Christmas is the perfect time to get casual fans in the mood to go watch some skating so it might help with ticket sales too!

Selfishly, I hope they're at Sheffield - plus it gives them another opportunity to perform in competition conditions, and get additional feedback from judges.

Well, Lilah just posted on Instagram they are on their way to nationals so that's one answered!

I suppose there will be less jet lag by the time they get to Italy so maybe it will actually be helpful. I won't deny I would have missed them XD

Congrats to all the medalists at nationals! I enjoyed watching even though the coverage was at times appalling...

Shame we didn't get to see Mimi and Joseph's free dance, I wanted to see what they were like.

Both teams heading off to the GPF had a little bobble in the rhythm dance so hope they've got that out of the way and wishing them lots of luck for the coming week!

I have more than once started typing axalotl while my brain was thinking Ash and Atl omg. But they were great. Happy to see them have another good competition. I guess next time we see them will hopefully be jr worlds - fingers crossed!

Side note, I love axolotls and apparently they are quite easy pets. I've been seriously considering getting one, main stumbling block is they aren't very portable haha

Agreed. I have no idea why they are using the BBC commentator who still hasn't managed to learn anything about skating. Surely they could have found someone more suitable? Given that the coverage is only available via the BIS stream they do not need to worry about making the commentary accessible to a general audience because there won't be general BBC viewers stumbling across it. People won't buy the stream unless they are specifically interested in the sport!

I felt a bit sorry for Kristen Spours. She has fought back so hard from her injury and was so close. She's the only one with the TES for Worlds at the moment, but I doubt she'll get the chance. They will sent Natasha to Euros on the assumption she can get the TES there. Nina has the TES for Worlds for the free programme but not the short.

To be honest, some of the experts accompanying her weren't particularly great at commentating either, one of them obviously had a cold and sniffed all the way through their stint I don't want to be nasty about it but... really minimal amounts of research could have improved it.

I was really rooting for Kristen! I still hope she has a chance of getting to worlds. She was so close.

Lots of good news regarding the GP Final!

Firstly, there is LIVE coverage of ALL categories, both Junior and Senior, on the Eurosport Player / Discovery+.

I can’t remember Eurosport showing the Junior GP Final before, so it was a surprise to find out that they are showing it in their final season showing figure skating.

It will be interesting to see whether they use their own commentators for the Juniors, or whether they will just take the World Feed commentary.

Secondly, apart from the Senior Men’s FS, there is LIVE coverage of all the Senior categories on Eurosport’s linear channels.

The Senior Men’s FS is the first competition of the day on Saturday, and at the time it is happening, British Eurosport 1 is showing LIVE Women’s Giant Slalom, while British Eurosport 2 is showing a yachting magazine show and cyclo-cross highlights. But, my guess is that they are showing LIVE coverage of something else elsewhere in Europe.

All in all, very good coverage compared to what we had for most of the Senior GP Series.
