They've been tweeting some provocative Chan quotes...but when will they release the whole interview?
-I'm more in favor of the 'friendly/respectful rivals' dynamic that has gone on the last season...but it seems that Chan wants the other kind.

He had a media call scheduled for 10 am eastern...so right about now. As for the quotes, Chan will see for himself how he ranks with everyone else.

I don´t mind if he is not the most respectful, he never was anyway (I am not having high expectations about his behavior), I really miss his skating and I am agree with those comments.

Does he do it out of confidence or lack of confidence? I remember similar statements after GPF2013 and after the Team event at Sochi.
'I let him win' or 'I've seen that score before,'
Well, it's the off-season and maybe the statements will be modified when seen with the whole interview.

either way I don't know what people want him to say about the men's event, there was one clean performance from Javi in the SP out of the men on the podium, I just see it at honest, I just hope he holds himself to the same standard *2013WC*

Well, it may be that when the full interview comes out it was phrased better, but there is honesty and then there is designed to get people's backs up. Rather than, "The men's event was as I expected. nothing too special, no offence", if that is indeed exactly what he said, he could say something like, "There were of course some accomplished skaters and performances at Worlds, but I really feel that I still have what it takes to be in the mix. I hope to show that I can be a winner again with enough hard work." Confident and stating his intent without sounding like he is angling to be contemptuous. Honestly, when someone says no offence, they know what they have said is offensive.

I mean, shouldn't Chan of all people know that placing a premium on clean performances is living in the past?Especially in the men's event.

Suddenly I´m feeling a little more love for Dennis Ten, Javier, Yuzuru, Voronov, Kovtun, Mura and the other men... even Plushenko.

Patrick is right in one way --- if he's basing it on dominant and clean performances. There really wasn't much of that this season. Even Yuzuru, who everyone thought would mop the floor this season, didn't really do that (but given his injuries and such, that was probably a lofty expectation!)

But Patrick is also wrong, IMO, because what made this year interesting is that there was a diverse array of styles and strategies adopted this season. Watching the men was fun for me because of this.

Also, it's easy to say "it's nothing special" when you're just watching from the sidelines. Olympic hangover was thick this season and there's a reason Patrick took this past season off.

He is an amazing athlete and no amount of shady comments can take that away, sure. And there wasn't a sole dominant skater who won everything, that's true, but that doesn't make it any less special, it was more exciting altogether, for me. This may not be the best way to start this new season, and with all the good sportmanship we had from all the skaters last season, it makes it all more noticeable. He has the talent and is sure of himself, he can let his skating do the talking IMO.

Everybody has an eye on his return, I don't think this kind of statements will help the pressure he already has to handle. I find him quite arrogant, I'm really waiting to see what he will propose

I am going to be honest; their skating has not changed. It does not look any different. They are skating to the same pieces of music and style. Javi very much has that Charlie Chaplin style which totally works for him. It is great, but I would love to see him do a classical piece. That is what I would do if I was in that position – I would challenge myself. I want to see something exciting and that is one of the reasons I want to come back. I want to bring back programs that I have never done. I finally get to skate to lyrics, which can open up a whole new realm of music and expression, so that is really exciting for me.

Um...did he watch Javier's Black Betty program? That is NOTHING like Chaplin! Or Yuzuru's Chopin Ballade?! It sounds like, using his words, he "skimmed"only the free skates. And it sounds like he only focused on the ones he considered his top competition. No mention of Denis Ten, who had two lovely programs (and had beat him in the FS at Worlds) or the rest of the men's field.

I hope Max Kovtun beats him with a terrible program and no transitions "no offence".
Also with his "leaving a mark for the coaches to show students what it takes to be a champion" he sounds megalomaniac.
And "i'll be deadly honest" but the fact he is a 3 time world champion with the way he skated in 2012 and 2013 is a joke. No offence.

The only problem that I see with his comments is that Yuzu and Javi can read it. I mean, I agree, Javi is super sweet and nice and he has excellent jumps but I hate his LP, and his interpretation, spins and step seq. are not so good. Yuzu has bad posture and his programs are mediocres. But if I would not have the heart to say it at their faces. The poor guys are working very hard, and Javi coming from Spain is truly admirable. Yuzu is a hard worker. I hope Yuzu and Javi only take those comments like a motivation to do better.

Next season with Patrick and Denis (I wonder if Patrick really did not look his performance ) it will be a much better season in the category of men for me. He is right, ice dance is the best in figure skating right now.
