Ugh, I think it was a sad moment in Vancouver with Plushy and Evan.

It really was, since neither of them should have won Gold or Silver. Thankfully a new hope, young Jedi Hanyu, took vengeance for the sins of the empire against his people, Master Takayoda and Obi-Wan Kozuka.

Ugh, I think it was a sad moment in Vancouver with Plushy and Evan. So many great skaters but they did not perform when they counted and they got a winner who was a great competitor but not special and a silver medallist who seemed to be fading and had not moved forward. I know we cannot live for the what ifs but had Chan not been injured he may have had his quad and consistency. Lambiel may have got it together, Dai had skated more on. Hanyu and Chan are special and amazing. I just wish Chan would improve technically and get a coach so he could be his very best like Hanyu. I don't think Chan can compete. As for Chan adding a second quad in the freeskate okay folks I think he just popped it to a triple at Skate Can - is he working on a quad sal or flip? Or solidifying the axel and lutz and adding another 3A at least. He is so far behind Hanyu.

He hasn't said anything about working on another quad (that I've known of), but that 3T will definitely be a 4T :) I think he's still very much in the game but he's focusing on clean skates rather than getting more big jumps. A very different approach from Yuzuru's. They'll be better by the time the GPF comes, it will be interesting there, specially if Patrick goes clean and Yuzuru has a mistake, who will end up on top in that situation? :hpull:

You just made my day with that comment

What I meant was it is probably too late; he has given up OGM if he doesn't add another quad - to hold off Shomo and beat the king Hanyu Chan needs to add a triple axel and another quad. He is 12 points and goes behind Hanyu. He will be lucky to have 4 point lead in PCS in the freeskate. He might as well start knitting; he only won Skate Canada because Hanyu made some unfortunate and unlikely to be repeated errors at least in the short. But he has some easy stuff to fix - the costume and if he can get a skating coach - jump coach who knows.

thank you so much for sharing this hug... they all look so happy and liking each other... it looks very genuine... and I HOPE IT WILL FINALLY put an end to all the verbiage about them not liking each other... athletes at the highest level usually have the deepest respect for their colleagues.

Why is it important that skaters should be good friends with each other? Personally, I don´t care one bit whether the do like each other or not. The main thing to me is that they behave well.

What a great reply to a lame post!
thank you ;)

chan solo quad? or chan solo axel?

Too easy.
chan solo who actually gets the princess... that's good enough in my books

oh... i meant mostly respect. i don't think they went to the bar afterwards ;) i guess i used liking a bit too much in my post ;) personally, as long as they are not crass, i am not expecting them to be all friends :) like in life, some people have affinities, others don't ... but this forum is spreading false rumours, as if Chan is an arrogant hater... i don't believe that's true at all and perhaps that little video shows that he is liked by others and has a very endearing smile ;)

Chan is not arrogant hater he is just deadly "honest" sometimes :peace:

You mean how he honestly said Yuzuru and Javier are only jumps and aren't challenging themselves, while he would?

:laugh2: You know after PW, Chopin Ballade isn't challenge, Betty too not challenging at all .

Well, he recently gave some praise to Chopin Ballade afer the SP at SC, that he had seen in on YT but it was completely different to see it live. He said Jeff did a great work with that program (and that you could tell he choreographed it right away).

And I wouldn't mind it at all if he thought that (and said it), if he actually would challenge himself artisitcally. But like this, it's just throwing shade.

Nice to know though he did say something nice about Yuzurus Chopin, thanks xibsuarz for posting that :)

Tbh it was praising of Jeff not Yuzuru tho

BV indicates potential. But only executions and overall performance on competition ice count. Each skater needs high BV to be competitive, but needs to prove it is realistic and can be actualized with reasonable quality.

Each skater's BV should be set as high as possible, but not higher. (Borrowing from Einstein's "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.")

And one can also say this is how things never evolve. People said from the 2012-13 season until early 2014-15 that Hanyu shouldn't do the 4S, he should take it out because it's obviously not working. Now look at it, how it's gotten pretty reliable for him and is easily one of the best quads in the field.

Things can only be possible if we try them to begin with, after all.

It didn't matter what people said. Hanyu knew it was possible. Pioneers and great ones always know a higher possibility.

Many possibilities take time and are not always realizable right away. Sometimes they stay impossible for a long time. It's up to each person how long they are willing and able to endure. Many things, e.g. flying, stay impossible for a very long time, even beyond one's lifetime. Thus it's up to the wisdom of each individual to know what is possible for them.

But now you're kind of contradicting yourself. If a skater knows that he (or she. I'll just stick with "he" for now) can skate a program with a certain BV in practice, then he knows that he is in fact able to execute that program. If he is then unable to prove it in a competition, then that doesn't mean that he's not able to execute the content in general. Maybe he just needs more time to prove in competition that he can do it. But how would he know if he stopped trying? So for a while it would look like that skater was trying to fulfill a BV in competition that he can't handle. It might take a very long time and lots of failed attempts until he can make it possible. But it will certainly be impossible forever if he stops trying.
