ermmm... the only person who can answer this question is Brian Orser....

no point speculating and talking about skating wives or what not....

finally.... as mentioned before, Brian and Patrick have known each other FOR A VERY LONG TIME.... if they both wanted to work together on a regular basis, they would have done so....

Don't forget that Brian Orser just took some of our Canadian female skaters as well... he is busy yes, but if both Patrick and him wanted to make it happen, they would work it out...

Ah, here it is! I knew he said something about this:

Q:What if Patrick Chan now asked you to train him. Would you have time for him?

Brian: I don’t know actually. Yuzuru and Javier are committed for the next Olympics and this is direct competition. I have to look at it that way. If this had happened four years ago, five years ago, it would be a different story. But I have to protect these guys as well. They came to me and they came to me first. I always kind of go in order. Javier was with me first of these top skaters now and then it goes Yuzuru and then it goes Nam. That was kind of the order they came. I don’t want to use the word priority, because I try to keep them all equal. But they understand when I have to go to Spanish Nationals or when I have to go to Japanese Nationals. I really try my best to balance everything.

It doesn't seem likely to happen anyway.

I knew I had read that somewhere but I hadn't been able to find the interview again. Thank you Specs!
But yes, Brian's got his hands pretty full now: aside from Javier, Yuzuru and Nam, there's also Elizabet, Alaine, Gabby, Javier Raya and the upcoming juniors. He needs to think about his current students and their goals before taking on anyone new.
But well, if Patrick wanted to change coaches, he would have done so already. He likes being with Kathy.

Hanyu, Fernandez, and Nam are super friendly and "bromance" with each other. I can't see Chan fitting in with their vibe.

I also don't see Orser taking Chan on (beyond having his plate overloaded) bc last time there were rumors of him coaching his top student's rival, it ended in a tutor-pupil breakup. Orser wouldn't want that happening again.

Well, there was a video of Chan and Javi playing video game and it was pretty funny, and we know how much Yuzuru loves to play game so i wouldnt be so sure about Patrick not fitting in

I think the year off has really hurt Patrick's chances. When I look back at these last few years, and compare it to now....you have to bring your a-game, even if you're Patrick Chan. Yuzuru won the Olympics with a less than stellar performance. I think that this must have motivated more than if he had won with a spectacular performance. Both Patrick and Yuzuru couldn't have been happy with the results of the Olympics, even with the medals. It's understandable that Patrick needed or wanted a break. And he couldn't have foreseen that his main rivals would rise as fast as they did, because who really did? (Maybe Brian Orser...)

Well, he might have had an inkling that they were improving if he could have been bothered to watch their programs last season rather than fast-forwarding. But even if he was too busy or uninterested, at least his coach should have paid attention (thinking of what Frank Carroll said in the Blade Boys' interview). I don't think ignorance is an excuse, it's not like he spent the last year meditating in a cave. He had as much access to info as any active skater.

I don't believe he did that. But he couldn't have foreseen that Javier and Yuzuru would actually deliver, especially Yuzuru. Even last season, and early into this season...who could've foreseen that? I think most people didn't, after Skate Canada. That he would skate two faultless back-to-back programs leaving Chan's old record in the dust, I think this even surprised Yuzuru himself.

I was saying after Skate Canada that Hanyu is in best shape ever, but no one was listening me

So, with the exception of Handomi, who could've foreseen that? I think most people didn't, after Skate Canada, with the exception of HanDomi. That Yuzuru would skate two faultless back-to-back programs leaving Chan's old records in the dust, I think this even surprised Yuzuru himself. But guess who wasn't surprised? HanDomi. Said it all along. Unfortunately - no one was listening. Not even Patrick Chan.

Rofl.

I believed that it was only going to be a matter of time before Hanyu decimated the old WRs, given his technical layout and skills progression over the years.

Here's the thing about Patrick. As great as he is, every skater needs a break. He has multiple National Championships along with World and Olympic Medals. He has ZERO to prove as he already has a Hall Of Fame Career. He's skating for love and that's why I'm so happy to see him return.

This season layout was supposed to happen last season and we might have gotten these two skates last year if the collision and surgery did not happen. And this year we might actually getting 4Lo. I felt that his 2018 plan suffered a slight setback because of that. I hope they will manage to get it back on plan.

Let's be real. He's skating for that 2018 OGM.

KABOOM!!!! Why not. He still has the goods and if he's healthy, he's always a threat. More than anything, I hope he doesn't have to miss due to injury. I can't take it anymore. Russians.......Do you think Plushy will try to make the Olympic Team??

I wasn't being completely serious. Lol BUT if Patrick wanted to train at CC, I'm sure Brian would discuss it (if he considered it) and given how Yuzu just seems to love challenges I don't think he would mind that much. JSF might but I can't see them forcing Yuzu to leave. Just my impressions (i.e. baseless), of course.

Am I missing something? Has Patrick expressed a need for an additional coach?? If so, he should call......Jeffery Buttle.
