Deniss Vasiljevs

😂😂🙈 i am really sorry for the screaming 😱

I actually thought that anyone would record the stuff in better quality^^

anyways it was a fantastic fantastic weekend, Deniss was in a really good mood, really relaxed. And the performances were amazing.
Totally worth it going there!
If anyone has detailed questions about something... go ahead I somehow don‘t know where to start 😉

OMG! There are plenty of wonderful photos everyehere!

I love this picture! He looks so passionate, vigorous, determined and focused on the target. I wish he wouldn’t lose his fighting will. :luv17:

Good luck!

Last group means he could sleep quite long today ;) Hope he's well-rested and in a good mood.

Yesterday I was watching Ladies SP on Match TV - it was Max Trankov I suppose who (during a warm-up of 3rd group of skaters, so a bit out of relevance) stated that Deniss made a great progress in recent years, especially performance-wise, and has two excellent programs this season. I can only completely agree :).

So show your strengths, Deniss - and good luck!

Ahh that axel. The rest was very good, though, especially the performance.

It's a tough competition but I hope he can move up a couple of places. Good luck in the free!

A very good performance! He was doing turns all the time! It was a natural dance on the ice! It seems to be very easy but Simon says it's far from that. Even if it's not technically so difficult, it's a program you will remember. Koyada's performance (the winner) was the best but Deniss' impressed me more.

But that Axel!! He lost at least 5 points and the place in the top ten. It's a pity!

Good luck, Deniss! :cheer2:

Great performance! He can struggle with jumps this season, but his performing abilities are on the highest level.

What struck me today: I was sure that +5/-5 GOE system would make an advantage to skaters of the quality skating that Deniss without a doubt is. But it visibly works very selectively. Today he got -4/-5 GOE for a jump which he quite easily saved. So he was punished twice: for UR (which is OK, the jump was UR) and in addition with -5 GOE usually reserved for falls. All in all he got only 2.03 pts for a quite nice jump an average viewer could take as just a bit unsuccesful attempt of a difficult element. On the other hand for the unique and high quality step sequence and spins he got +3 GOE - the same grades he got under +3/-3 GOE system. As if judges knew how to punish a skater but didn't know how to reward him.
And 7.75 he got from the Spanish judge for the performance is just an inexplicable nonsens.

In a nutshell: under 6.0 judging system Deniss could be easily in top 10, and probably even in top 6. So I'm going to ignore all this scoring staff from now on as my health is too precious for me ;)

I could notice that commentators had a problem with Deniss skating quality and the scores. As if they felt it was an excellent performance but they couldn't evaluate it accordingly with the present score system, rewarding jumps mainly. One of the Russian commentators even suspected Deniss jumped 4F  while another one revealed that Deniss is very tall, which probably had to explain why he didn't jump quads (but he checked Deniss height and then knew nothing ).

There are so many beautiful photos in the internet - I like this set very much.

I can't agree more. :agree:
Latvian TV commentators were pretty shocked by that presentation score! The new system was supposed to support such skaters as Deniss but it was not used at all!

Everything happens as it happens in all kinds of sports. There are always someone’s interests to stand for. It's crystal clear to me now! Therefore I desperately want him to learn quads. If not, it will always be used as a weapon against him, despite his skating skills being fantastic.

I wonder about his height. It seemed he was growing, but everywhere it’s 1.72 still.

I agree w/everything you wrote. To be honest, my interest in FS has been slipping quite a bit lately because of how biased and political everything is. I am just going to support my favorite skaters and try to disregard everything else because the sport is not fair, never has been, and never will be. We can't change the situation, but I will just enjoy Deniss's performances at competitions and at shows and hope he knows his fans will love him no matter what. :)

While I'm sure this is not what Deniss was hoping for, he showed a great fighting spirit after the opening mistakes and did what he could in the second half. Don't give up, Samurai!

And he got a nice sharkie ;)
