Deniss Vasiljevs

I watched the program again (before the videos disappeared from youtube grrrrr) and I was really struck by the transitions they've added before each of the jumps compared to earlier in the season! There were more steps and less of a long build up into the axel, and he did a harder step sequence into the flip, more like in last year's program. I wish the harder entries had gotten rewarded more in the GOE, but its so interesting to see how he is constantly improving!
 
My boys Deniss and Patrick both did SO WELL today!!!!! I'm on cloud nine! :hap10: Congrats to Deniss and Stephane! :clap:

Is there a video that hasn't been blocked yet? All the ones on YouTube are blocked -- same thing happened at 4CC. :scowl:

ETA: I found it! Russian commentary, and they talk through most of it, but oh well. The speed and transitions have improved so much throughout the season. I am blown away! I love the small stag leap in the footwork with the twizzle right after! It fits the mood and the music perfectly! :love: In this performance, Deniss really showed the joy skating gives him. It was so much fun to watch. I wish there was a video on DailyMotion with no commentary to get everything they said in the K&C. Both of them were so thrilled! :luv17: I wasn't completely in love with this SP before, but I am now. :yes:

Congratulations on the new PB, Deniss!!

Just stopping by to say how beautiful Deniss was yesterday! (I was rooting really hard for him and the old ladies next to me seemed to approve of it. They seemed to really like him to!) It was amazing watching him live, both in practice and during the competition. I can't wait to see his improvements in the future and his FS tomorrow. :luv17:

Just to make sure, what place still takes him to the Olympics, the 19th? or was it 17th?

Like the commentor said, one of his best FS up to now. When you're able to perfom that beautifully after a fall it really shows how passionate you are about skating. I loved the new transitions and elements, and is it me or did his stamina improve a lot too?

Congrats, Deniss! :yay: Thanks for being you! Unfortunately, both videos are gone now, so I can't watch the program. Hopefully someone will put it on DailyMotion or something. :( I saw Patrick's lovely LP (and downloaded it), but I certainly want to see Deniss's too!

Damn they're fast. I only managed to save the British Eurosports and I uploaded it to DM here http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5gyq2m I hope you can watch it before they take it down. Sadly the quality isn't the best (the original video was 480p :, but at least you can see the program

:thank: Like the SP, this program has gotten so much better throughout the season. I love Deniss's smile at the end, the crowd reaction, and of course, Deniss and Stephane in the K&C. What a wonderful skate, and the commentators were so complimentary about his skating! :agree: I really enjoyed it! :yes:

It's so great to see them both so happy, this must have been such a big challenge for both, Stephane as a new coach and Deniss as a first year senior skater, and they did so good, all the work paid off, they're making me emotional :luv17:
 
Indeed, he stayed focused after the fall and it hardly affected the program. I was thinking about other skaters who went through a big growth spurt like Deniss has recently, like Nam Nguyen and Roman Sadovsky, and it's very impressive how stable Deniss has managed to be despite that, & after recovering from injury to boot. He was able to keep improving all season and you can't really ask for anything more than that. :)

Charlie is the BEST interviewer - SO INCREDIBLY POSITIVE!!! :clap: :love: I've already gushed about his SP and LP interviews with Patrick, and the one with Stephane is also amazing!!! Their compliments to each other are so heart-warming. I cannot express how happy Charlie's interviews make me. Thanks for posting the link! :biggrin:
 
I’m so emotional still! My favorite thing was that he didn’t even look upset, after the fall, and he finished the program smiling! He’s got such a good head on his shoulders. He’s qualified for the Olympics, and got a PB, so he should be happy!

I was so nervous for him, and on the fall I actually shouted out loud NO DENISS (and it was 5am so I hope I didn’t wake anyone in my house oops). But he rallied so well and won more fans along the way. Looking forward to B Esp video and maybe even NBC so that I can have more people appreciating Deniss!
