Puttin' on the ritz from Villars show was especially impressive! Add quads to his artistry and we can start dreaming about medals for Latvia in figure skating. At least in Euros :love:
 
He's really got that something! I think I'd love any student of Stephane Lambiel but with Deniss it's more than that. I really want to splurge on last minute day tickets to Ostrava now... I really hope he does well!

It is fan voting for most popular athlete in Daugavpils city (not for Latvian Athlete of the Year).

2016 Latvian Athlete of the Year is famous basketball player Kristaps Porzingis. :)

Sorry, a friend from Daugavpils shared the page with me and there was some miscommunication obviously, with her not being very fluent with English and my knowledge of Russian marginal at the best, and the article was written all in Latvian... she shared it with me with a great urgency, I thought it was something more significant lol.. but I guess being a Daugavpils resident it WAS indeed very significant for her...
Anyway, Deniss is confirmed to appear in Music On Ice, held in Bellinzona, Switzerland with Stephane next weekend. It is not too far from Champery, about 3hr drive, so it shouldn't be much of a distraction for his preparation to EC, it would more like be a warm-up...

Male athlete of the year 2016 and Female athlete of the year 2016 will be decided by jury, anounced in January 12. The huge favorites are Deniss Vasiljevs and Anastasija Grigorjeva, both won also 2015.

Looks like he won. It is now almost 5pm here and Deniss has 656 likes, while 2nd place Andžejs Ļebedevs has 538 likes.
 
Deniss never ceases to amaze me. For such a young man, he seems very grounded and he has his priorities straight! Good for him.
 
Awesome news to Latvian figure skating fans - LTV7 will show Europeans again :agree: Nice to see they wisened up FINALLY!
 
Ahh, these sync vids, after watching "Yuri!!!On Ice" I can't look at them and not see Victor and Yuuri 😁
