Deniss Vasiljevs

Finally! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAcKfB4Dl_E :party2: :points:
I love the way he unfolded out of the last 2 spins. And his skating is so smooth and elegant :luv17:

I agree! The whole performance is excellent! In the interview afterwards it is obvious that he feels satisfied and happy. His eyes are shining!

I totally agree with both of you. Stunning performance I loved at first glance and now it's only better :luv17:
Remember what Stephane said about nowadays spins so I am glad Deniss has opportunity to show how beautiful spins look like
And have you noticed that he jumps higher and with more ease than at NHK? He must have worked on jumps a lot recently.

I found this interview. There're things we've already known, but it's still interesting to read.
It's interesting - and refreshing - to read about Deniss just as a skater and a sportsman :)
Google translation exercise surprised me as usually, but one sentence I found especially mind-blowing: "At the moment, we are particularly impressive in leaking consistency" Has the original sentence: "Šobrīd īpaši piestrādājam pie lēcienu konsistences" something to do with jumps maybe?

I love how passionate he is in every performance! Galas and show skating are often quite boring to me, but Deniss is magical to watch. I am sure we will get some nice videos from Villars...fingers crossed!

When I put it in google translate proper it suggested to change it to "Šobrīd īpaši pie strādājam pie lēcienu konsistences", which translates as "At the moment, we are particularly at work on the jump consistency" which makes a lot more sense.
Actually the most mind-blowing sentence to me was the first: "Pasaules daiļslidošanas aprindās arvien skaļāk izskan 18 gadus vecā daugavpilieša Denisa Vasiļjeva vārds." which somehow became "The name of the 18-year-old daughter-in-law, Denis Vasiliev, is increasingly vocal in the world of drawing sketches."

Yes, I cannot really sit through a whole gala without dozing off at some point oops but Deniss' skating is just so beautiful. He puts his heart and his best effort into every performance, even in a show, and everyone can see it.

The latest interview http://jauns.lv/raksts/sports/264761... is interesting, but there is not much new for us who are his fans. It's not surprising that Google translation sometimes makes funny sentences. Especially if we take into account that Latvian has word-endings and the word order in the sentences is not so important as it is in English.

Anyway, there are still some new interesting bits in this article and in other mass media. I think that I will have a stretch of free time at the weekend or a bit later, so I'll try to make a short synopsis of the facts I think could be interesting to somebody.

I suppose that having a successful skater is still a novelty for the Latvian media, and they may not have considered coming up with a fresh angle to cover, or else they think this is all the public wants to know about. I noticed something similar with Javi and his Spanish interviews...they are mostly all the same, and very boring after you've read a handful. Still, I still enjoy every interview with Deniss because he manages to always come up with clever and interesting answers to even the most banal questions.

Actually, this interview is not made by Latvian journalists but Russian news agency-sputnik, controlled by the government, even if the author of the article lives in Latvia. Latvia has a lot of athletes (about 20) who have got medals in Olympics, so our reporters can be considered quite experienced, although there sometimes happen mistakes. Still, you are right- there are questions not worth asking. But I can't help being curious-what is Deniss going to do after school. From the family i understood that he has plans to study. Such a person like Deniss
won't have a peaceful life. But it's in the future.

^^^Love this program, and the costume is just :luv17:! His speed and flow across the ice are SO smooth. Beautiful!

I love these practice session videos a lot as they show what goes behind the programs. Deniss seems to get along with Koshiro. THAT'S VERY GOOD!
Both programs are very nice and smooth. I'm captivated by his skating. Jumps are a bit shaky, but overall, both programs were skated well.
I'm not a big fan of the new costume. I prefer the previous second-hand costume more. I think Deniss looks better in that. But as long as he skates well, he can wear whatever he wants, even in his training outfits :D

Do we know if Koshiro and Deniss train together now?

I thought they were training partners under Lambiel for some time now?

PS.
Here are some photos I took of Deniss at Lombardia back in September
I only just got around to uploading them.

They were staying at the same hotel as me, and in fact they were just walking out of the Hotel as I arrived. I didn't speak to them though, as they seemed deep in conversation... and that was the story of the weekend, unfortunately... I saw them often, but it never seemed an appropriate time to talk to them...

Oops - guess I forgot! I remembered Koshiro being in Switzerland but couldn't remember if it was just during the summer for choreography or other training. Thanks. Of course your Deniss pictures are fantastic! Thx for sharing! Too bad you didn't get to talk with them. I would assume they would speak to each other in English.

I agree about the costume. The previous looks perfect on him- it marks out his beautiful, manly body shapes and broad shoulders. It is also more appropriate to the character-it shows Mufasa's imposing appearance and seriousness.

I somehow don't think that Deniss had any real discrepancy with Koshiro. Maybe he was simply very tired and nervous and then sometimes people want to be alone but it was not for long. We have seen their summer pics in the wood and in the kitchen cooking. Deniss is a very amicable boy.

Belatedly commenting but I love this program and I especially love how Deniss has come close to Stephane’s amazing ability to keep an arm looking perfectly still and centered during a corkscrew sit spin.

It was so fun to see the practice video from Villars. I love watching the choreography being tweaked, and all the boys having fun with jumps.

Deniss’ SP looked great. Hopefully that jump consistency will continue to Euros!

Waiting for anything from Music on Ice (first performance is today!), I have just watching XOI Lion King ex (yes, I prefer the borrowed costume too, as it gives me possibility to observe shoulder muscles' motion - it's an extra bonus :luv17:) and relishing all the details, like hands and palms moves. It's a masterpiece.
And there are only 12 days till Europeans! Great opportunity to show his brilliant ex, don't you think so? :cheer:
