Deniss Vasiljevs

Everyone go and check out ISU instagram, they just put up a story from the KnC! And one from just after
I gotta say Stephane is such a mother hen - giving Deniss the water, wiping his face, fixing his hair, straightening out his jabot

😂😂😂😂 soo true! I love it so much!
Posting here a little late since I was so busy the whole day but I couldn’t stop smiling... so so so so so great for Deniss! I was screaming infront of my pc stream and jumped around! SOOOO amazing so so deserved!

I am just so happy! So much more than I could have hoped for. I had to drive to work after Deniss, so I was listening to the rest and sneaking glances, and I kept hearing the crowd gasp at each fall in the final group. So rough, but it makes it all the more impressive that Deniss put together such a clean and confident skate.

I loved watching the K&C happiness, and I’m so glad Deniss is in the gala. Getting the recognition he deserves!

I'm so so so so so so so so so so happy for him! :yahoo:
Clean skate Deniss is so wonderful.Amazing! I love clean skate Deniss so much!!!
A clean skate, positive GOE for everything, level 4 for stsq and spins, breaking his PB by more than 10 points! He can be proud of what he achieved here :D And I hope this achievement will put him in a good mood for his coming exams lol (hang in there Deniss XD)

On another note, seems like Stephane was wearing the letters "D" & "S" around his neck during the kiss and cry. I guess they bought them as souvenirs. So cute! (as usual)

Man, joining this board at the end of a season has made me realize it is going to be a long off season. I have gotten used to checking in on here multiple times a day. I hope Deniss and Stephane have a good 'off season' and will come back even stronger next season.

Wonderful job by Deniss in both programs, and he was hugely popular again today at the gala. He has a natural charm and ease that is so appealing. I have to admit though that I had a hard time not watching Stephane while Deniss was skating. S. was standing directly across from me and was hilarious the way he was skating right along with him...So now that our European leading man (Javi) is retiring (or semi-retiring?) is it too presumptuous to think that Deniss may be the one to "carry the torch" for European men? He really does have star quality.

Hi, just finished watching Deniss' gala ex to Lion King and it was absolutely wonderful! What a delightful and charismatic skater! Dazzling performance! So glad he got to showcase his talent to the Worlds audience. Yes, Stephane, we are all so proud! Bravo, Deniss! Looking forward to your new programs for next season.

I just realised today that he's a seeded skater for GPs... He's come so far this season [emoji24]

So, what does that mean that he is a seeded skater?

I imagine Nathan would get Skate America, and Mikhail would get COC. I don’t know about Shoma and Kazuki - with Yuzuru also in the picture, do both of them get NHK?

(I’m holding out hope Deniss gets Skate Canada since I’m going this year)

This is from page 2 of the 2017-2018 ISU Grand Prix Announcement (I don't think the 2018-2019 document is out yet but this rule shouldn't change so replace 2017 with 2018 in the below quote):

"2.1 Seeded Skaters/Couples
a) Skaters/Couples who have placed 1 – 6 in each of the 4 disciplines (Men, Ladies, Pair Skating, Ice Dance)
at the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2017 will be considered to be Seeded Skaters/Couples
and will be assigned, by draw, to skate in two events.
b) If any vacancies (less than 6 Seeded Skaters/Couples per discipline) remain, the next ranked
Skater/Couple from the results of the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2017 will be moved up to
fill their position as a Seeded Skater/Couple."

As I recall, the skaters that are seeded 1-3 do not meet each other and the same goes for those seeded 4-6 during the grand prix events. Yuzuru is not seeded.

:agree: So on reflection I don't think it will actually affect Deniss' assignments since the only person he can't be in a GP with is Tomono as Bychenko's retiring. But - it will affect his skate order since he'll be towards the end of the second group in his GPs, and you know what that means? PCS galore!

In retrospect for WC, he should of gotten some more 9's from judges in PCS (also he shouldn't have gotten any 7's) if we compare him to the splats that took place in the final group which did adversely affect more than the PE mark of some men but alas, at the time, the judges were withholding marks for the final flight.
