Just give me something fresh. Some Billie Eilish or something that is edgy and makes us a little uncomfortable....in the good way.
I’d go all in for someone daring enough to skate to Bury a Freind
It's almost that time of year (okay maybe not quite but close enough), when we start to hear people's choices for next season's programs Post your hopes and dreams here--bonus points if they come true!!
Hubbell/Donohue:
FD: A Chorus Line I remember Madison mentioning something about Fosse in the K&C or something at Nationals in passing. I actually think this would be so awesome on them. Madison would make a perfect Cassie!!! If not Chorus Line, any Fosse would be great (just no Chicago, plz)
I also want Anna or Alina to skate to Nutcracker Pas De Deux ]
Your suggestion for Bradie is perfect. I think if she were to go full witch and wanted to try something a bit smoother but that still works with her jagged angular style Dark Secret by Mathew Sweet (https://youtu.be/WP7GAad2T5o) from The Craft soundtrack.
As for Ice Dance I’d never heard of Lambeth Walk before and I think I’d be a great choice. For Fear & Gibson I was also thinking along those lines with my suggestion being medley’s from Oliver!, Bedknobs & Broomsticks, Mary Poppins or Singing in the Rain (especially this song: https://youtu.be/byAfC5yW_hw). They’re such a joyful team so they’re so lucky that it’s this RD theme next season, I hope they take advantage of it.
I also thought Eunsoo Lim would fit Plastic 100C by Sampha (This version is a bit slower than the original but the original isn’t on yt: https://youtu.be/kyei9tuS_M8) but it might be a bit to “current” and would require a bit of stamina.
i'm back with more ideas
wagner
twilight fo the gods Siegfried's Funeral March: nathan chen, shoma uno, dimitry aliev
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a53s4jyCqqU
Tannhäuser ouverture: yuzuru hanyu, michail kolyada
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRmCEGHt-Qk
Ride Of The Valkyries: gabrielle daleman, mae berenice meite
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGU1P6lBW6Q
I love me some Wagner and would be thrilled to see some good programs choreographed to his music, but unfortunately I don't think his compositions are very skating friendly.
They need some time to build up to the big climax and it would be pretty difficult to cut them into a program with all it requires.
I've been thinking about the Tannhäuser overture, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg overture or Lohengrin a lot, but I'm not sure how it would work.
I'd love to see it though!
I think the Ride of the Valkyries is doable as is Liebestod (which has actually been done), so we can dream.
OK, and while I'm at it, here is my classical wish list:
Debussy - Valse Romantique (why not use e.g. this instead of Clair de Lune for the 98465134615153@#^^%&^% time?!)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGYGRtnYX0c
Tchaikovsky - Polonaise from Eugen Onegin
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iR9P82WbQug
Piano sonatas: Appassionata, 3rd mov. of Tempest, Pathetique, Waldstein or even my favorite late sonatas no. 30, 31, 32, if cut well...(simply anything BUT the Moonlight!!!)
Violin sonata no. 9 "Kreutzer"
Etc., etc.
I think I submitted a very similar list several years ago, but my wishes have not been granted (as far as I know)
i think siegfried funeral and Tannhäuser ouverture could be cut keeping at least partially the climax, the time for build it would be shorter but it's still doable (we're talking about long programs of course)
i totally quote you and i'd like to add the onegin waltz (from the opera)
Oh yeah, that would be a good one too!:agree:
Some other ideas:
Puccini - Manon Lescaut Intermezzo (another warhorse potential!)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZf0JHbrtpg
Schubert - Ständchen (I would prefer the intrumental version for a program)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FvzEQDNI9w
OK, and while I'm at it, here is my classical wish list:
Schubert - Fantasy in F Minor
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMM8NxvoG3M
Debussy - Valse Romantique (why not use e.g. this instead of Clair de Lune for the 98465134615153@#^^%&^% time?!)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGYGRtnYX0c
Liszt - Hungarian Rhapsody no.12
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exOz0Lzx5NA
Haydn - Cello Concerto No. 1 (e.g. adagio)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPlDGZ2A0Gs
Tchaikovsky - Polonaise from Eugen Onegin
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iR9P82WbQug
Donizetti - Don Pasquale overture
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hITVvvRTrMA
Chopin - piano concertos no.1 and no.2 (so much amazing music to choose from!)
Beethoven:
Symphonies no.3, 6, 7, 9 (preferably not the last movement as the others deserve some recognition too)
Emperor piano concerto
Piano sonatas: Appassionata, 3rd mov. of Tempest, Pathetique, Waldstein or even my favorite late sonatas no. 30, 31, 32, if cut well...(simply anything BUT the Moonlight!!!)
Violin sonata no. 9 "Kreutzer"
Etc., etc.
