I really think Emily should do at a least a rocker before setting up carefully to do her 3Flip or 3Lutz. It's just so out of character for the music Sylvia.

Emily is a bad girl. i want her to disappear in skating world ASAP.
You're kidding about Mao, right? With her exquisite line and grace, not to mention her one-handed Bielmann, she will always go through the roof on PCS. (Lemme guess - grace and line are not your favorite qualities. At least we both like Miki.)
Still, there have been many outstanding U.S. skaters who never won a world championship. Maribel Vincent and Janet Lynn won 14 U.S. championships between them, but never a world gold. So -- yawns aside -- I think Kimmie has every right to be proud of her achievement.
The reason why Emily is "telegraphing" her jumps is that most of the transitional choreography has been removed from her FS, since she wasn't able to land her jumps in that context during the GP. So what's left is stroke, stroke, jump, so it's very plain whenever she is setting up for the next jump.
Ah yes, the old Michelle Kwan game plan. But look how WELL it worked for her!
Michelle Kwan
is the greatest of all time... Ah yes, the old Michelle Kwan game plan. But look how WELL it worked for her!

Also, Kwan did her "no choreography" with lots and lots of style. IMO, E Hughes doesn't have that...yet?
:agree: ITA, nicely said....or maybe it's best just to ignore it.

There are major differences between Kwan and Hughes, not the least of which is that Kwan landed her jumps lightly and didn't ta-da when she did. She was a much more consistent skater than Emily. And she was WAY faster than Emily.
Kwan was only doing what her critics wanted. Those of us who were around in the late 90's and early 00's heard on a daily basis about how Kwan needed to stop with the "same old same old Nichol choreography", even when she was skating to a different choreographer. So she did. Lipiniski won from going from jump to jump. Slutskaya was winning by going from jump to jump. So that's what Kwan did. After she left Nichol, her critics criticized her some more for leaving, pretending they never criticized her choreography. But they did, no matter how much they lie about it.

that's what I try to do, it's easier to get the stuff to stop if you don't feed into it. It's that whole idea that negative attention is better than no attention at all...
