Evan Lysacek Gushfest | Page 3 | Golden Skate

Evan Lysacek Gushfest

his jumps - especially the triple axel - scare me
Me too, but then again lopsided, under rotated jumps, with a sliding take off edge tend to. ;)

Anyone can be a diva. They don't have to be female or gay. It just means you're awesome and you know it. I think Evan slides into diva a bit sometimes, his footwork is a bit diva, especially when he gets that intense, "I will conquer!" look in his eye. Johnny's a bit diva, but not really with his skating. He skates too inward and soft to be diva in skating. I think he is in life though and more people should be imo.

hey now! :rofl::rofl::rofl:

That's one thing I have to give to Johnny his 3Axel is killer....

but I'll take Evan over all the guys anyday

I certainly won't argue that Evan isn't hot, because he so is. With his height he could probably model if he wanted to, but then he'd definitely have to unleash the inner diva, lol.

I saw Lysacek´s freeskate performance the first time in JGPF and became a fan of his skating immediately. I really looked forward to his participation in senior events and finally in 2005 he cmpeted in Worlds, WOW...

I like it that Lysacek is a strong freeskate competitor and hope that short programmes will start to work on highest level soon. He has the right tactic to jump the quad in his programmes now, because that is the only way to make it really consistent. Of course he will lose some competitions now, but it is intelligent of him & coach not to be shortsighted and instead look forward towards the big picture = 2010 Olympics. That is the place where top skaters very much need a quad combination to stand on the podium.

Generally speaking I mostly have no problems with men´s costumes, at least as long as they don´t have something on that one could imagine fitting a female skater as well or better..., LOL. To Lysacek black suits really well and is my favourite o him, but I think also many other colours look great on him.

I tend to read different skater interviews, and from Lysacek I have gotten a very good impression based on his interviews, etc.

Great photo, Toni!!!
Black always looks great against the white ice and white boards....and the saying "less is more" is often true with figure skating costumes.

:laugh::laugh: I have to say I really love your "black and white" kitties photo!

Patrick Chan is going to kick Evan's booty.
I love Patrick Chan!! He reminds me somewhat of Johnny's skating.

I have nothing to say about Evan, at least nice, so I won't.

That is very considerate of you. As for me, I have a ton of things to say.

When I saw Evan in that ivory shirt at SA I thought I would die on the spot. When he came out for his program, he was totally stunning. With his dark hair, dark eyes, long legs with black pants, California tan, and open neckline, he was totally hot, hot, hot. I don't think he has ever looked better. Totally a sex bomb.

I think he must have become uncomfortable with the open neckline plunging so low, because he put that red scarf that he wore for The Feeling Begins, knotted into the shirt. I think that was really a distraction. I hope he doesn't keep doing that. Evan, don't be so modest, let that neckline plunge.:love:

His INXS program was also a hottie. But I have also liked his more mellow programs such as Ave Maria and Time to Say Goodbye. And his swaying hips in Sway and his danceability throughout the whole program are to die for. He was young when he first did that program. He did it at the Olympics also. These types of programs do show Evan's versatility and his danceability.

That's it! Evan's just not in my personal top 10 list, but I knew there was something he did that I thought was awesome. My middle-aged brain just couldn't remember what it was without assistance.

I am still uploading pictures from 06 (and I've decided I won't try to rescan the rest of my 05 nationals photos as they're in scrapbooks) but if you want to see more just follow the link in my siggy (top left :))

WOW Toni!!:agree: I had not idea you were a professional photographer!;)

What great photos in your gallery. How fortunate that you get to attend so many competitions. Awesome:rock::rock::clap::clap:

So glad I was able to remind you!!:rock:

Exactly!!! You gave the right explanation.

Johnny is not a diva when he is skating!

Anyway Evan goes to the same category of divas ala Witt, Cohen, Navka.

If you think about their styles Lysacek, Witt, Cohen and Navka have a lot in common. Maybe I see similiarities that other don't see??? Or maybe I have a big imagination?

I've only been to 2 Figure Skating competitions in all my 23 years... and 2 exhibitions (Walt Disney on Ice in 89 and a random show Scott Hamilton and Kat Witt put together in 99) I am more jealous of some of the other members of the board like Joesitz who attend several competitions EVERY YEAR...

and thanks for the compliments, still technically a freelance photographer, but maybe that will change someday.

Very well said about everything! I especially like the part about him interviews. No one has ever said that before. Most of the things I have said elsewhere about Evan have been based on his interview, both articles and video.

And you certainly have Evan's quad strategy explained too. It may cost him some medals in the present, but he is really looking to the future where they are really going to count.

I think what you might be trying to say is that Evan (and the others you mentioned) make you want to watch them because they draw you into their skating. You get carried along with it. When Evan picks so much speed and passion toward the end and then just explodes with that last 30 seconds of amazing footwork, you just get blown away!!:rock:

That is what happens to me anyway.

I guess being from Alaska might make it harder to get to them?

I am a lot older than you are, so it is only natural that I have had the opportunity to go to more skating events than you have. I hope that in the future you will be able to attend more. Will you be in St. Paul? That one is going to be a real humdinger in the men and ladies events.

10 things I like about Evan Lysacek:

1) He has the mindset and mental toughness of a Champion
2) He skates with full commitment and no excuses, always gives it everything that he has and never holds back
3) He is a doer, risk taker and very hard worker
4) He is a great fighter and competitor, I’m very impressed with his gutsy comebacks at Olympics, Worlds and 4CC
5) He is a very good all-around skater, who always keeps pushing his limit. His new programs have very high technical difficulty in all elements, so far only a few men have guts to do so and can still pull off decent performances this season. It’s a lot tougher to skate cleanly and consistently with all the difficult jumps, high level spins and footwork, so I’ll give him credit for not taking the easy route.
6) He is a wonderful entertainer, his How to Pick Music, Sing’n in the Rain and Sway are refresh, cool and fun to watch (I think he’ll be dazzling if skating to a hip-hop program)
7) He is very good looking and attractive in person
8) He is low-profile, laid-back and sweet in life, always being very nice to kids and his fans
9) He and Tanith make a wonderful couple
10) Frank Carroll is my favorite coach

I wish him the best of luck in future career.

That's part of it - being an out of work college student is another  but yeah airfare is about the same as all event tickets (not the 700+ package but the one below that lol) I will easily drop 2000 bucks on this next trip - which is likely to be my last USFSA event on my dime (unless they bring something to Anchorage, which fat chance of that happening any time soon)

Will you be in St. Paul? That one is going to be a real humdinger in the men and ladies events.

As stated above (and in about every thread in the Nationals forum ;) excited much?) I will be in St. Paul for the event. I have all event, and will be rooming with a friend of mine... I've traveled more in the last 4 years than in my entire life... it's been fun...

Will be taking the RIGHT lenses this time so I should have better photos this time around than in 06

That is very exciting for you, Toni, that you are able to go to St. Paul. My friend and I are going also. What a shame that it is so expensive for you to travel to the events. It is going to cost me about half of your expense. This year we only got the weekend package plus the men's SP, and the Gala. Next year we are getting the all event so we can get the practices. At Skate America we had all event.

I have been to one Worlds, in 2003, Wash.,DC, because I live on the east coast and it was easy to drive there. What an experience that was!! My daughter and I already have our reservation and deposits made for Worlds 2009 in LA. Skating competitions live can't be beat!! I have been to two other Nationals a long time ago. Also my older daughter skated synchro for ten years and I went to several of those. One of the synchro nationals was held in Anchorage! So I guess you never know.

Little late to the party. But I love Evan's spins. He hits the most beautiful positions, especially his sit spins. In the Zorro SP, when he change the edge in his camel just as the music change is lovely.

I love his beautiful long legs. Makes me wish there was a spiral requirement for the men's, just so he can show off it a little bit more.

I love the jump entrance he uses into his flips and lutzs. He has great ride out from his jumps. I like that he's breaking conventional assumptions. He is an extremely tall skater who can jump, and is a constant jumper.

I've love his footwork. This season, I really like those backward lunges. It's great, he finally got a level4 for his straight line footwork.

I love the fact he has a different exhibition for every grand prix event so far.

I love his never give up attitude.
