Since rumour started there is no announcement for Wakaba. So i don't expect her to go now. Sad, i think she is the one who need Orser the most. But well, it's not the end of the world.
People are taking the decision to train with a non-Russian coach outside of Russia as an insult to Russia and an insult to the idea that Eteri is the best coach in the world ever for every skater at every point in their career.
orser is not that expensive, guys. medvedeva ain't poor and javi was able to afford orser when money was super tight. if a poor javi was able to make it financially, celebrated, gilded, and sponsor-showered medvedeva can, too.
loving that shade though... wishing the young 'uns LONGEVITY. good one. and 'eteri's taught me many a life lesson. i will always remember them' - that's also wonderful, subtle shade. sure she will remember how eteri's favourite pastime is dragging her students through the mud... take note, eteri! one can remain courteous and hold onto their dignity while also letting the other party know they've failed to conceal their rotten nature.
medvedeva's composure, manners and impeccable dignity are admirable.
What I want to know is how in the world Med managed to convince the Russian Federation to take the unprecedented move that many thought was impossible up till now, of allowing their top skater to switch coaches and train abroad.
Remember when Lipniskaia was trying to change coaches? That dragged out for months and she wasn't even trying to move abroad!
I wonder what will happen if Lakernik and BOrser both push up Evgenia's PCS and GOE.
Evgenia had a much more successful career at senior level than Yulia. That also helped alot I presume in persuading them.Maybe they learned something from that experience. Can’t say that it was handled well or a positive result for any of the parties involved and I’m sure they don’t want a repeat of history. That would raise a lot of questions about the federation and how it looks out for its athletes.

"Yes, now I will live and train in North America," said the sportswoman, "As for the change of sports citizenship, it's absolute nonsense." All the normal and sane people understand this perfectly well that it does not concern me. "I will live in Canada, I just have to change my place of residence for an indefinite period. "
"I want a long career, it is because of this that such changes in my life are taking place," she continued, "you do not know how much I'm feeling now, I have more motivation than ever before." I am not afraid of moving to Canada and I will not be uncomfortable there, I hope that my English will allow me to communicate normally. "
So confident, brave and extremely intelligent...what a girl! She saw the writing on the wall and made a break for it.
Why is longevity shade? Longevity is a normal thing to aspire to as a skater.

I never really found it odd that Eteri’s students moved on after they reach 18. After all she coaches for Sambo which is basically a school program. Sure there have been personal issues and other dramas but what’s that got to do with me?
I think she basically coaches a lot of kids. What would be nice is to see Orser take Zhenya and help her continue her career. She doesn’t need to improve but rather just continue along and have a few good performers.
On a side note....o can’t wait to see her and Brian at Russian Nationals![]()
