Her injury doesn't justify her lies.

That's what I'm saying, I don't think she was lying. I think that was probably filmed either a) before she went to Germany b) before she talked about her visit with her mom and realized exactly what it meant -- that she COULDN'T stay with Eteri if she wanted to stay in skating. I don't think she was thinking "ooh, I'm gonna lie now" but rather she just didn't know how life would unfold.

That was filmed in March (don't remember exact date). Orser said she contacted him in April, 2. So it takes only few weeks for her to go from "i stay here without any doubt" to "i leave"

Marriages/relationships have turned a 180 faster, just saying.

Some users here really expect to tell people the truth, and nothing but the truth. *eyeroll*.

Although I was sceptical about this in the beginning, I've come to the realisation that this is the best Zhenya could do and from my point of view this is extremely brave. She surely risked a lot with this move and I have nothing but respect for such courage in an 18 year old girl, I wish I could be this bold at my age ;) I think Zhenya realised that Eteri's specialty are juniors and I feel she's been held back for a while now. She may have some technical issues but she has what is most important - heart, drive and fierceness and I think she'll do great with BOrser and I am cheering on her from now on ;)

All the best to Zhenya! You fight for it girl!

Lets hope Zhenya can adjust to the shock very quickly when she moves to Canada- American and Canadian coaches tend to have different ways of approaching things then Russian coaches, and the culture in general is different

Yeah, she's been held back so much that she got injury. True story.

She got injured because she’s been taught the wrong technique for jumping. And by held back I meant she was doing almost the same programs over and over again and according to Orser had no imput in her programs whatsoever. But Nice try, you keep this sarcasm going, its fun [emoji1303]

I agree with her move and that that's the best for her, new methods new people, place.Life is short so better to experience as much whenever you have the chance. It's like a check mate move for next quadruple considering the changes that are coming. But brave and difficult , I don't know, rather than ease move I would say. The difficult path could have been to achieve her goals in her previous team.

On another note, Bobrova wrote a poem about Zhenya - I can't understand what she wants to say from the google translation alone, so if anyone wants to summarize it :D

https://www.sports.ru/figure-skating/1062969800.html
It's basically about how many there are of those who are always ready to sling mud and talk bad things whithout basis and without knowing anything, how many are full of envy, always counting your/her falls with glee, and how many of those who are "eternal" friends in words, and how few of those who can keep silent and simply respect your/her desicions, who can just support and accept your choices, always stay by your side without loud words and guard your piece, and that it's okay because you can be certain that those few will never betray and leave, will understand without words and will need no reasons and explanations, for they are ready to wait patiently and respect your desicions and choices etc. . Something like that - not a direct translation, obviously.

Well, by brave I meant firstly she is moving across the world to chase her dreams which I think is quite difficult for an 18 year old and second she still cannot be sure how RusFed will treat her next season because they could push for punishing her for it. She is really risking, just look what happened to Yagudin - he left to USA and never won Russian Nats, and while I don't think it's that important to Evgenia to be the Russian Champion (although I would imagine to some extent it is important cause she's so patriotic) she has to be in the top three to go to Worlds, Olys etc. and there is a remote probability that RusFed will push her out of the top three.

And where is the proof for that? Really, you can't just throw speculation like this out with absolutely no basis. What I heard is that it was an off-ice thing, anyway. But that still isn't something I'm going to state as a fact, because I really don't know. Still, it's much better than saying something like this, which is seemingly nothing but baseless speculation.

... Except she actually changed her planned FS for this season.

I agree. It might not have ended much better otherwise with Eteri, but anytime between April 22 when she met with Orser and May 7, when she returned from vacation, she should have spoken with Eteri, even if by phone. But she's 18 and Eteri was her coach for 11 of those years and I think Zhenya was just afraid of confronting her. Despite Zhenya's reasons for leaving (wanting a change in order to progress in her career, trying different methods, not wanting to be in a constant high pressure cooking pot of a situation), Eteri is/was still one of the most important people in her life and I feel like she just didn't know how to say she was going to leave. And then rumors broke out, the Sambo manager talked, Eteri went on TV spitting mad (and making petty comments) and any opportunity for Zhenya to figure out how to say it to Eteri's face first got blown away. It was not the best way to deal with it on Zhenya's part, indeed, and she should have expected, after 11 years training with Eteri, that there'd be an escalation on the issue. Whoever advised her to keep complete silence after she settled the deal with Orser were in the wrong.

This. The minute the deal with Orser was finalized in April, she should have called Eteri and inform, and release official statement right then, now that would have been classy. She's not first day in figure skating, knows how rumors spread, and could totally have taken control and responsibility over the situation from the start, instead she let run its course keeping silence until things went south, and came up very late with classy formal text. She either did not have the guts to do it right or did it on purpose, neither flatters her.

I do agree with Spirals for Miles.

Honestly, I am stunned how people were trying to be 'saints' like they always tell the truth and never change their mind and believe everything that media says... When, in fact, you never know what life might bring and how circumstances might affect on life choices.

There are tonnes of situations like this not only in sport. For instance, when people change their job. Are they always telling their boss beforehand...? like 'hey, I might leave you, but not sure yet, see ya later....and btw can I leave early today, having an interview'....I am not even saying when people got divorced just after getting married or long time friends falling apart due to argument... It does't make them 'liars, betrayals or bad people' And of course, tonnes of athletes change the coaches in all sports, it's normal...
However, going against all ethical norms and bad-mouthing your athlete at prime time on National TV and sharing personal conversation (if it's indeed occurred) is normal apparently...

There is perfect saying: “We can never judge the lives of others, because each person knows only their own pain and renunciation."

Still says something about their articles, I think. The additional information BOrser gave doesn't actually condemn Med's behavior in any way.

That is not an article. It literally says blog in the title. Sports.ru is a content aggregator, and anyone can post any garbage there, and they do. It is not the equivalent of TASS or Rsport, although actual news articles from legitimate sources do get reposted there as well. It's no different from someone posting their dumb opinions on another site or Tumblr.

It is not a baseless speculation, I read it in a few places and I am pretty sure that one of the coaches said (I honestly don't remember who it was) that the way she muscles through, she torques her body by force and puts a lot of pressure on the foot and that could be a very possible reason for her getting injured. Also I have eyes and can see how she struggles with her jumps because the technique she uses, especially for toe jumps, is wrong so it seems logical that she could have hurt herself because of it. Of course I cannot be sure, I wasn't there and I am not her physician. I feel bad for her though because she obviously has loads of talent, unfortunately somebody ruined her toe jumps.
On a positive note now another somebody has a chance to fix it :)

After talking with Orser, Evgenia needed to talk to the federation - which she did, evidently. In Russia, it's the federation that has control, not the skater and coach. Evgenia had to stay quiet until the federation gave her the go-ahead to train with Orser.

Of course she could have injured herself that way. And she could have injured herself in a variety of other ways. Additionally, she could have injured herself while jumping, for reasons other than specifically "bad jumping technique". Saying that that's a possibility(everything is a possibility) is quite different from stating it as a fact. And remember that skaters with "good jumping technique" get injured as well.

Federation obviously gave her green light long before, given how smooth and fast it was done. And no Federation can restrain you from calling your former coach. And how come Evgenia had to stay quiet about her situation, but Sambo personnel is not.

Yes, it's incredible how those who are quick to accuse Evgenia of being a liar and "unclassy" will just take everything Eteri says at face value. Look how many of her students left the same way...you think it's a coincidence? Is there any other coach who has a pattern of skaters running away like that? These things don't happen out of the blue. And their favorite Eteri students today may leave the same way, eventually...what will they say then?
