Medvyedeva told how she encountered bullying on social networks

MOSCOW, Mar 11 - RIA News. Russian figure skater Yevgeniya Medvyedeva spoke out about bullying and insults that she encountered on social networks.
In May 2018, Medvyedeva moved from coach Eteri Tutberidze to Canadian specialist Brian Orser.

“ To be honest, at first I was a little afraid of them, because what they were doing was beyond my comprehension. I thought: “ Why are you wasting your time on me? Why are you all doing this? I didn’t do anything bad to you. " But in any case, I just let it go. I will never understand them. So now I just don’t pay attention and try not to check all the comments. Honestly, sometimes it’s very painful because I I don’t understand what it is for, " Medvyedeva told in an interview with Olympic Channel.

At the same time, the skater noted that she was not depressed about this.

“ Sometimes I want to run away from all this. But at the same time, I understand that it is part of my work. Therefore, I just need to cope with it, go through it and move on, ” the athlete added.

Medvyedeva also admitted that in addition to negative messages, she receives positive comments.

“ I feel a lot of love in my life. From the side. It's amazing. The worst part is that there are many expectations, many people look at you like under a microscope and try to find something bad. But this is part of my life, it makes me stronger. Therefore I love my life, " concluded the skater.

Pretty surreal news with Worlds being cancelled. Of course it's always good to err on the side of caution. I hope these containment efforts lead to the virus being under control soon.

I have never been happier than now that zhenya wasn't in the run for the world's team, if they resheule like they said to not oktober or later than all the skater would have to have like what 4 programs ready ? The old ones and the new ones because the gp season is starting or has started then already?

It won't since you would basically have to have all countries and cities in the whole word shutting everything out , not leaving houses or countries for like weeks to get it under control. Anything else will not stop it. It doesn't matter if you cancel such events you can just as easily get it at work, at grocery shopping trips. You could also get it and not have any symptoms whatsoever which would mean anyone could have it but wouldn't know because he doesn't have any symptoms

Yes well containment is probably not possible. The point of these measures is to slow the rate of growth. If the infection rate is spread out, hospitals will be able to cope. That's really the best we can hope for.

Will she risk travelling to Moscow for the March 29 shows?

I think she’ll try her best to go, but honestly I’m really nervous about it. So much could get worse in two weeks, especially seeing how the virus is spreading through Europe so quickly now.

I hope the event organizers will re-evaluate. Splitting the crowd into two doesn’t sound like it will help one bit. And nothing about any additional safety measures 🧐 it just feels irresponsible to me

I think she shouldn't travel to Europe at the moment.

With ever more travel restrictions being imposed, she will probably not denied entry into Russia (when healthy of course), but Canada might not allow her back in because of a blanket ban on entry from any part of Europe (if they follow USA's example). Sankt Peterburg Major office already has decreed no public events over 1000 spectators, when Moscow lowers its limit too, the 29 March shows will likely be cancelled.

With all due respect I would think that Canada would have no interest in following the US example. You forget that Toronto went through this once before with SARS. The US had 33 cases, Canada had 251 - all but 6 of which were in Toronto. The death rate was 19% and 40% of the cases were amongst health care workers. I worked in a downtown Toronto ICU and let me tell you it was a nightmare. There were a lot of lessons learned. I don't think we need to follow anyone's example.
