Why is it, though? Is it because she has only placed first in the past two years? So if she was second in one competition it'd mean she was second in every competition afterwards?
It's really hard to understand. Just about every other top skater has had poor skates, not placed first, then had amazing showings and placed first again without any issues. I too really can't understand why people think if Medvedeva was to finish second in a competition it would be some permanent switch as if she would never win again. It's completely normal for skaters' placements to fluctuate some and the same person to not always win.
Yes, I think Zhenya has spoiled us a bit. Even geniuses like Yuzuru or Yuna Kim don't always win, on the contrary. Evgenia is the exception, not the rule, and I'm sure that sooner or later she will lose a gold medal too, and that will be okay of course. I hope it won't be OG though
Maybe she should have some experienced pr manager/adviser to help her construct more respectable public image and refuse those who just wants quick profit from her name.
