Nothing you have written has to do with my point, because Zhenya never was in the situation Alina was between OG and worlds. There could be many things discussed about but it would lead to things I don't want to get to, so I will only write this: What I have written was only a reaction to a comparison portraying Alina in a bad way, which was very unfair to her (in an environment not really very favoring her), nothing more. And again, that wasn't about portraying Zhenya in a bad way either or to deny she deals great with pressure. Nothing of that was written by me, I'm not aware I would make "unpleasant comments" so this is completely out of discussion.
I still consider myself Zhenya's fan, I just sometimes can't agree with the way some other fans are expressing their favor by making unfair comparisons :) (and if you are mentioning Alina's thread, nobody does it there and nobody has the need to make unfair comparisons ), thats why I answered on that first commentary. But as usually, the discussion took the way I did not intend originally (as it always goes this way, partially due to my mistakes or the lack of ability to express myself properly), so it was wrong from me to even start it, I had to consider the consequences. My apology for that.

I don't think you (or anyone else!) need to apologize :) it's okay to have different views and opinions, even as Zhenya fans!

I think though that the discussion can probably be considered finished now and that we can just focus on Zhenya content and news keeping this fanfest a positive space :)

Thank you. I'll try to be as positive as I can

I disagree. Imagine she would tell herself before the Olympics "I´am injured and my body is not by 100%". I highly doubt she would end up with a medal.

Sometimes you need to trick your brain a little if you want to achieve high results.
I didn’t make my points very well. I think true mental strength is acknowledging pain without using it as an excuse - so that “my pain is there but I will not let it effect my performance or use it as an excuse.” That’s different than just pretending you’re not in pain. It may seem like slight difference - and Zhenya may have been using this strategy but not articulating it.

From a psych perspective, attempting to ignore pain or pretend it’s not there actually can worsen the mental experience of pain. Like if I told you repeatedly to not think about a white bear, that suddenly become all you can think about. Ignoring it or pretending it’s not there can also mean not doing the appropriate things to care/nurture herself off the ice.

So, now that all rule changes are official, can we talk about how this will effect Zhenya and her programs? From what I understood the 3F will be one of the few jumps to be valued more points and there is also the „Zagitova-Rule“ which essentially bans complete backloading. Well, I don‘t want to spark another Zhenya/Alina discussion but this is Zhenya‘s fanfest and Alina‘s the only dangerous rival to a clean Zhenya right now, so what would she need to do to beat her? The 3F is now valued more points (which makes Zhenya‘s signature combo, 3F-3T, get an advantage) and loop value is reduced. (Alina‘s signature combo lutz-loop) There‘s also the ban of complete backloading which was the way Alina beat Zhenya as she really is the only senior girl to pull it off right now. We all know Zhenya tried but couldn‘t so that‘s a good thing about the rule - she won‘t feel forced to start backloading as well. There‘s also the fact that Zhenya still gets more PCS. If both skate clean, will this be potentially be enough for Zhenya to beat Alina?

And also, does anyone have any ideas on what jump distribution she might use? I‘m too bad at Maths to even try it, lol. :D

The rule doesn't ban backloading, it just rewards only the last 3 jumps done in the 2nd half of the FS and one in the SP.

That said, I think this will allow Zhenya to keep her FS layout to 2-5, or even 3-4 if she prefers it, and I think she may try to make the combo her last jump in the SP to have it gain more value. We'll see!

I'm really curious about this, if skaters (Zhenya and others) will have the courage to put hard combo as the last jump element without having backup single jump (flip, lutz). If so, that would be really worth admiring.

Well but that‘s essentially equal to really baning it. Who would do all the jumps in the second half, risking to make mistakes as the legs grow tired
if they‘re not even rewarded for it? I bet we won‘t see any fully backloaded programs this season. Would just be strategically unwise.

What if Zhenya did this?
3Lz
2A
2A
3Lo-2T-2Lo
---
3F-3T
3S-3T
3F

and then she can always change one of the 3Ts to a 3Lo if she upgrades

I don't think they will have much choice actually. At least in the SP, combo will be at the end.

Isn't that her old layout without both 2T? :scratch2: If she does only 2 combos that's the best layout for now. She also can change a 3F into a 3Lz and a 3T in a 3Lo, but that would come later.

This is really risky and I wouldn't recommend it to do for two reasons:

1. As said it's way to risky, skater can lost almost all chances to medal as SP should be clean in women field...

2. With +5 GOE and bullet points it is wiser to show better quality of jumps, therefore doing combo in first half significantly increase chance to make it better while having 'fresh legs'...So would it make any sense to risk it if you can lose in GOE?

Again she can lose combos...And 3F last element is hard! Even Zagitiva is visibly tired at the end.
As it all being said, she clearly needs to repeat 3Ltz, I am actually praying to all FS gods she would be able to correct the edge!

Hmm I doubt she'll do both combos at the end, to be honest. If she gets a -3Lo combo they might put that in the first half, something like:

3F3Lo

3S-3T
